Why don't they form their own EU? You aren't afraid of Uncle Sam, are you?
>>
probably because we overthrow any country there that doesn't do what we want

you can't have anything with spics, we alone managed to get the Mercosul-EU deal signed while Argentina's president kept bashing and treating to leave Mercosul calling it communism o algo
>>
Most of those countries are themselves formed from larger Latinx countries that balkanized because they couldn’t even keep that together despite having the same language and religion
>>
>>222202812
Uncle Sam is not afraid of the EU, because along NATO helps him manage his vassal states, EU is not a good model for integration in Latin America.

Why is Mercosur not as developed or as interconnected as the EU?
>>
Mercosur sucks, it forces us to buy shitty brazilian cars or pay 50% more if we want to import something better.

Señaaaaaaar please buy our cars we give you good deal

>because they couldn’t even keep that together despite having the same language and religion
That's because its geography and demographic distribution made it less feasible, especially back then. Your union almost collapsed twice despite the geography not being as bad.
>>
>>222202812
You raise a decent point. I was about to say because 70% of them can barely hold themselves together, but you could argue the same for the African Union. Brazil's membership would be fiercely debated though, the Spanish speakers are really cultish when it comes to Portuguese

>>222202812
pros vs cons?

Let's assume the advantages are greater, and Latin America forms a military-economic alliance.
Self-sufficiency is impossible without access to technologies from one of the clusters (China or the US).
To maintain a balanced relations between them, secure logistics routes are essential. Uncle Sam won't go full blown war, as it's too expensive and could cost the US its leadership. The US will block maritime logistics and use proxies like Milei to undermine it from within.
Obviously, the union will be questionable until China matches the US in naval strength to secure maritime logistic and/or the US will be trapped in few conflicts and the capability to project force onto that region will be diminished.

What's the word on the manufacturing of these? How much of it is actually domestic?
>>
>>222204634
Supposedly is going to be all mexican manufacture in Puebla, I would like more info on the battery technology but cant find it.
I dont see anything wrong with just buying technology as long as you understand it and can build it independently after, but if they did that theyre keeping shush as expected.

Yeah it's not as if geography play a factor in politics.

Indonesia is entirely broken up into a dozen ethnic groups and families separated by the ocean and they still can manage not balkanizing while Central America and Colombia couldn’t

>>
>>222203039
Why should we? It's supposed to be a trade bloc for trade. Do you want foreign bureaucrats determining your country's immigration policy? Do you want a single interest rate regime for multiple different economies?

And that is the optimal form of these sorts of unions

>>222206234
Isn't the whole point of big economic plans like that to standardize regulations and make it simpler?
>>
>>222202812
our governments are very corrupt and it's not like in other countries where they're subtle and rich so skimming a bit from the top is barely noticeable and politicians are used to that
here they steal a lot, and even if it was a little it would still impact greatly on the budged for plans
all of that to say that if we had a local, regional and continental governments we would have so much people stealing it would go even worse than we're right now
>>
>>222206465
It inevitably turns into regulation hell like Europe

If you radically open your economy prices will fall, but so will your wages and the effect of opening will be null. Opening your economy is not a magic pill, it needs to be done strategically and by sectors.
>>
>>222202812
We are not Latinx and we have Mercosul
>>
>>222206785
I mean the way most South American countries have been doing protectionism is just a dishonest way of taxing people more since there are most of the time no domestic alternatives for the tariffed goods.
And so far it obviously hasn't worked considering that your countries have been falling behind even previously much poorer Asian countries.
>>
>>222207202
I agree to a certain degree, just pointing out that there's some nuance to this, otherwise Europe would have no tariffs whatsoever.
>>
>>222206512

It would've been even better without dominca (republic of) and Brazil.
The Latinx people subconsciously understand that the fine balance of mestizodom must be protected, and that it's incompatible with the mulatto nations, who will, in time, without fail, assemble, in conjunction with the Nu Americans, the:
>Estajos Unijos do Huemerica
An Atlantic federation who will be nothing but a source of pain for the pacifically inclined mestizo people, at least until we lysenkically evolve ourselves to transcend Terran logic.
