Traditional houses made of wood and paper burned too easily under American air strikes, so Tokyo ended up full of these gray concrete buildings. It’s all America’s fault.

You ever met a woman who's not beautiful by conventional standards but feels so right? Maybe she's a little bit overweight or has crooked teeth or a big nose but she just kind of fills every missing gap and makes life worth it?

That's Japan for the average suburban amerigolem zoomer who has to drive their kia rio down the interstate to meet-up with their friends and spends long nights doom scrolling instead of strolling through streets that are alive and well-lit with other people out living their lives.

So do France. And Poland. Many places in France resemble our Polish towns: some monuments, some commieblocks, abandoned factory/train station/school, popular local spot like some ice cream shop, fast food or a mall and hardware stores, workshops, warehouses alongside departure routes.

Japan also has old townscapes.

Because Japanese buildings are made of wood, preserving them is difficult.

If the Edo period had continued, even if buildings burned down, they would have been rebuilt using wood.

>>
>>222318599
Yeah, it sucks here. The worst part is that there are a few livable places in this country (ie. places where owning a car isn't a prerequisite to having a job and a social life), but because those places are so few and far between they've essentially become a luxury in their own right. The rent is insanely expensive because everyone with a brain wants to live there and there's insane demand for what few apartments exist.
I can sort of understand why so many poor rural Americans have to pretend to enjoy living in their isolated shitholes, it's the only way to cope with being trapped in this country.

It's just very gray and not particularly pretty. The electric cables everywhere are atrocious and make the whole place feel like a poor country. These kinds of houses are also pretty terrible. Building with rusted steel is the kind of thing you see in slums, but the Japanese don't seem bothered by it.Japan is a cool country, it's functional and everything works well. But I can't understand why people say they were amazed by how beautiful it was.
>>222318679
Don't worry too much about it. Americans are usually much richer than their European counterparts. I'm not a big fan of cars, but your states are just too big to ignore them. That said, you seem to have abundant nature.
>>

>>

>>
>>222318876
I don't remember the last time I saw rusted steel houses but okay, I guess French suburbs with niggers and nafris are better.
>>
>>222315896
If it was about me, I simply answered with an example that functional grayness is everywhere and there is no point in criticizing Japan for it. In France, in Poland, etc. Similarly, small-town and rural climates are similar to each other
>>
>>222318930
Aesthetically, they're about the same yeah.
>>
>>222318876
I have lived in the shittiest side of Kobe (Higashinada) and the more rural areas (Akashi and Sanda), I have never seen rusted buildings in these places. Not even the poorest prefecture (Aomori) have any kind of rusted infrastructure. You are just looking for something that you want to see. The absolute WORST side of Japan - aesthetically speaking - is still miles better than the average of China, Korea, Germany (also Singapore, Malaysia, India and Australia - but I do consider these places to be overall worse than the firstly-mentioned three) (especially India)
>>
>>222310464
Now that you mention it the buildings in Japan were always seen as blocky and boring. Most people think Japan is "aesthetic" because it's clean, there's exotic signs everywhere and they've been psyopped into being familiar with it because of anime

Japan is cheap, they have 1st world infrastructure while also being as cheap as a third world country, even if you dont like it or feel completely neutral is cheaper to take vacations there than in your own 1st world country.

Japan is basically a disneyland but country-sized, and with waaaaaaay more attractions, also while being cheaper, be visiting mt fuji, be walking through the anime city akibahara, be doing anime pilgrimage, be fucking prostitutes, be eating their food, car culture, countryside, whatever, it has everything the modern zoomer will like

It's probably not even about the architecture, but about the fact that there's so much to do. The bars seem interesting and exotic, the food is delicious (although it must be state-funded), there are monuments to see, etc. At least that's how it seems from the anime / tiktoks and so on.
As for the countryside in France, I couldn't afford it, but from what I saw and what my friends who used to live there told me, it was impressive.
