>Watched Lost in Translation>Be rich Westoid elite>Stay at a 5-star luxury hotel in Tokyo>Cry yourself to sleep because "muh language barrier" and "boohoo I feel so isolated and sentimental"Seriously, you native English speakers are so fucking privileged it’s insane. When we japs travel abroad, we actually have to struggle with the language just to survive. We don’t have the goddamn luxury to sit around in a plush bathrobe, sipping whiskey, and romanticizing our "existential loneliness." We're too busy trying not to get lost.Imagine having the entire world cater to your language, and the moment you hit a minor inconvenience, you turn it into a deep, melancholic masterpiece.
>>222361815I worked briefly at a big grocery store in Mexico were korean clients sometimes came in. They would always have their cellphone in front of them and speak into it and it would translate for them, they got around fine for the most part
>>222361815The language barrier is a metaphor. It's not meant to be a literal experience of what being in Japan is like. I've never heard anything negative from people who visited Japan. All this being said, if you don't like not knowing how to get around abroad, perhaps your English courses should be more rigorous.
>>222361925>I've never heard anything negative from people who visited Japan.Only women, subhumans and weebs go to japan lol
>>222362255...and people who do business in one of the world's largest economies.Imbecile.
>>222361876Honestly, it really is such an easy time to live in now>>222361925Getting all melancholic through that metaphor just screams native English speaker arrogance. Had you actually tried to connect in local language and felt lonely, I’d be the first to sympathize
>>222361815I like this movie because it introduced me to Happy End's 風を集めて which I sang on the most fun night of my Japan Trip a few years back after I graduated
>>222362316Thanks for reminding me ive read a few times now people doing business trips there make sure to hit the local soapland since now japan has become bigger than thailand when ir comed to sex tourism, I wonder if we should include them in the subhuman category
>>222362403Using the song for the karaoke scene and as the closing trac was totally based
>>222361815Head kick a anglophone
>>222361815i actually know a few westoids who unironically visited japan just because of this piece of shit, so idc about that part. but, that rip/lip hooker scene would 100% get canceled today for being cringe and non-compliant. i used to see quite a few posts on reddit from asians saying they felt uncomfortable watching it. it’s pure white-savior/westerner-centric self-insert bait.
>>222362403It introduced me to My Bloody Valentine
>>222364887Honestly, the hooker didn’t bother me that much, prostitution is already the underbelly of our country anyway. The "Engrish" pronunciation joke is overused, but let’s be real: we japs joke about Chinese or other accents in Japanese all the time. For a movie made before 2010, it is what it is>it’s pure white-savior/westerner-centric self-insert bait.I totally agree on this>>222364904The taxi scene with "Sometimes" playing was a vibe, and the soundtrack overall was really good
>>222361815>takes a movie detached from reality serioustakeshi pleaseremember the shit movie where they portrayed the incel as a shy guy who had a girlfriend once that he fucked and also got a friend group?Thats how real movies are
>>222361925>perhaps your English courses should be more rigorous. Is this bait? who can be this moronic?>>222361815If I remember correctly, this crap movie was made/written by a femoid, don't take it seriously.
>>222361815It's a pretentious movie that only gays and women pretend to like. I don't know a single person who didn't enjoy his time in Japan and felt isolation instead of feeling being on a great adventure.
>>222361815It was my first movie about Japan and I watched the shit out of it and then studied 30 credits of Japanese with a native translator at uni and hosted cultural events with transfer students here. It's not perfect by any means but you gotta start somewhere. We just had Hitomi Honda come here to do a weird ass Nordic culture fetishism show (北欧こじらせ日記) that frankly looks a bit similar to us as LiT to the Japanese but each to her own. You keep doing the same thing yourself.
>>222361815Nobody has a language barrier as a tourist in current day.All basic conversation can be translated with your smartphone.

>>222361815having to listen to the woes of middle aged westeners coming here via company transfer on a 2mil yen/month salary is an indescribable humiliation ritual
>>222361815it's a shit movie for midwits

A movie about a woman experiencing loneliness?Must be an absurdist comedy.
>>222369993Dont forget that she is so lonely that she cheat her bf with and rich and famous old man and then is sad because she looks like model and is rich, if You dont feel sad its because you're an incel/chud.
I'm entry level rich (became a millionaire at 25, earn £500k after tax in late twenties) and it really sucks vs how normies perceive it. Like I grew up with a single mum on welfare and I'd pick being a richoid over this but it's genuinely no cap worse than just being middle class. The level of stress and difficulty to keep advancing is insane, like getting to £10k liquid is a joke by 30, £100k by 30 somewhat challenging but still doable, £1 mil by 30 genuinely very difficult, £10 mil is extremely challenging. Constant stress, tax planning, travel, I am from UK live here now (premier tax haven) to avoid getting obliterated.Dating is very difficult if you want to date people in a similar situation because it's so rare. You can give your kids a big leg up in life, but a lot of it is genetics/luck/mindset and even at my level yet alone the extreme high end it's very unlikely they will come close to your level of success. Then at the end of the day your life just isn't that much better than average person other than not having to work. Same phone, car might be nicer but no1 100x nicer, same for house etc. It's just pointless but good luck walking away from it when the average normie sees it as the most important thing in the world, basically no one with the ability to make this much does.Trust me when I say this. You don't suffer until you're a 0.1%er.
>>222361815In the 2000s Hollywood movies set in Japan like Kill Bill and The Last Samurai and Letters from Iwo Jima were all massive hits here. But this movie barely made a splash in Japan despite blowing up in the West. Japanese critics absolutely trashed it and the only people defending it were those western-worshipping local celebs.>for me, this movie and The Last Samurai are on the exact same level - just mediocre as hell. I love Kill Bill, and Letters from Iwo Jima is just a great work.
