this is why your street is all dirty and polluted

All this forced outside cleanliness and social pressure creates all sorts of odd behaviors behind closed doors (like the 1.5mil hikikomori and picrel).

that is not house of japanese you idiot
supporters were praised by world

reactions:

An admission ticket does not give you the right to litter.

I saw a video somewhere where some anti-Japan guy was saying stuff like, “Don’t take away the janitors’ jobs,” but when someone shot back, “Are janitors paid by the piece?” he just shut up

I’m glad I was born in Japan, where we’ve been taught by our forebears that “a bird that flies away leaves no trace behind.”

The meaning of pride is different. Overseas, pride means making others bow down to you, whereas for Japanese, pride means acting in a way that makes us feel proud.

I believe it’s our wonderful philosophy—one that involves accumulating virtue to win the favor of the stadium’s guardian deity

Outside of Japan, people just don't seem to develop that sense of responsibility to keep venues clean.

Other countries wouldn’t even try to do something like that.
I suppose this is where the difference lies between us and people from other countries.

For all the praise, their attitude still hasn't improved.
How many times do we have to repeat this before they finally grow up?

It's in our DNA. This is civic sense.

To us Japanese, it’s just “cleaning up”—
something that seems ordinary and isn’t even worth praising.
Koreans and Chinese, on the other hand, would probably turn to the camera
and boast, “How about that!”
No doubt about it.
But once the filming is over, they’d just leave it there and go home.
If that were the case,
there’s no way the streets of Korea and China would be littered with trash.

I really can’t stand the way foreigners in Shibuya and Shinjuku sit on the ground or litter, making a mess of Japan. It just goes to show how important school education is—why is Japan the only country in the world where people understand basic things as not doing things that bother others, or that objects have souls?

Please help me out. I understand the Japanese sense of 陰徳, but I was told in a video that there also exists a thing called よ徳 (don't know full kanji) that's an open public version of 陰徳, doing it in plain sight. The speaker said it's believed to hold less karmic weight but still good. Actually iirc the video said it backwards, that 陰徳 was public service and よ徳 was secret service? I cannot find the video again. Would a いい日本人 be kind enough to clear this up for me?
And either way, based I say. We need more people willing to take responsibility and work towards making their communities better, even when you do not own a deed or lease to a specific part of it. Let's help better the environment and our world! I used to think secret service was better because it showed I wanted the result more than the praise, but now I want to convince others to pick up trash, at least one piece off the ground every day, and to do that I think being vocal and showing a good example is key (without being overly preachy, Americans don't like being lectured when they don't care and get annoyed easily)
>>222362622
for what it's worth, I always assumed the people in New York City are dirty. They are, but the public trash pickup system in the city is actually really efficient. they sweep and bag up everything and haul off loads of trash bags every night when the city dies down. I was impressed. Citizens still need to have more respect, but for what its worth (main Manhattan at least) wasn't as filthy as Washington DC or... *gulp*, Baltimore.
>>
>>222362472
People gush about how polite and clean japs are but, I feel like, there's a preachy judgemental part of acting like this, like 'these gaijin pigs would happily live in filth if not for us'
Bitch, you already paid for getting your seat cleaned when you bought the ticket. The only thing you managed to demonstrate is you don't value your own time.

Why are people obsessed with hikikomori? Poland has 3x the rate of NEETs, and Japan's is one of the lowest in the world, doesn't make sense why we would learn about them.

I think you two might be misunderstanding each other. I think of you're going to make an effort to make a place cleaner, your priority should be
>1. the messes you make (your children too, of course)
>2. the outside, streets, nature
>3. inside and operated buildings
Because I understand and respect wanting to make the job easier for the cleaning staff as >>222364206 is saying, but there at least exists people cleaning up the stadium. I cannot say the same for the streets and outdoors, everybody is the custodian there. I understand it's not really a pick and choose kind of thing, if you are in a building and you pick up trash that is nice and I won't tell you to go do it outside instead, but if you are going to volunteer your time to clean somewhere, a stadium is not my first choice. Granted, I don't know how clean things are, the city may be void of trash as far as I know because everybody is taking care of it. Certainly isn't how things are in my home.

I wonder what its like to be a shrine keeper in today's day and age. Like for real, not in an anime. That's pretty cool.
I love Japan's attention to detail, though are the people really so kind and caring? Or is it just politeness and courtesy? Say I get robbed and my jacket gets ripped off in the fight, my money all stolen. If ragged me asks a Japanese person off the street for a few hundred 円, will they be kind (if able to) and help, or would they more likely not have the audacity to tell me to fuck off as they silently power walk away? I'm asking because there is a difference between kindheartedness and politeness.
>hear bug noises
>think words
kek, jokes write themselves.
Also, as a foreigner learning Japanese, I'm very afraid how hard reading the atmosphere will make things for me, I can barley read the room in America.
hey, if you have anymore perspectives like this, feel free to post them, 面白いです。
