Before the Ottomans they were in Dalmatia and around North Dalmatian inland (Lika), after the Ottomans it was Varaždin, Zagreb etc. Croats really didn't like living in the Ottoman empire because unlike Islam, Judaism and Eastern Orthodoxy, Catholicism was not a recognized religion and this allowed Orthodox Vlachs, Serbs and Muslim converts to become dominant in many parts of modern Bosnia and Military frontier Croatia that was under Ottomans for a time. Croats that lived there moved to the north, Hungary, Austria and Slovakia. Burgenland Croats are from the part of of North-West Bosnia that's the most Muslim part of the country today.If Croatia had fell completely under the Ottomans there wouldn't be Croatia today, it would probably just be Bosnia with a bunch of Serbs sprinkled. Half of modern Bosnia is just Croatia that feel to the Turks and was never reconquered unlike Eastern Croatia. Bosnia = Turkish Croatia.
