I don't think that's an accurate assessment of how or why a sport is exciting.
TO ME, although I don't watch soccer, I would consider the constant play more exciting than football which has pauses between every play, which is padded out with officiating bullshit, etc. Hockey falls in the category of a good category sport to watch because they play it straight with minimal breaks, too.
