ESLs have it really lucky, the best second language will always be English. For an English native like me, there is no clear best option to learn. So I just never bother at all and remain a monolingualcel.

id like to learn a 2nd language but I have the most foundation in learning spanish but I have no desire to go to Mexico and little to go to Spain, so I'd have to say fuck it and start from the beginning and the languages that seem best to me are either too hard (chinese, japanese) or very narrow in their use (french, italian, german, something scandi)
