I've been reading about why india is a shithole, and the main reason boils down to political nepotism.Indian political parties have very little internal democracy. The leadership is held usually by a single family and any open roles are assigned to family members instead of qualified people. During elections parties stand candidates that have connections to the ruling family, very rarely looking at competency. This lack of internal accountability creates corrupt politicians. Any honest politician finds it impossible to rise to the top. So on the surface while india looks like a democracy, it is very authoritarian when you look at the political parties. Many indians claim that politicians turned out be bigger 'dacoits' than the british were. So while india looks like a democracy on the surface, it is a highly authoritarian country when you analyze the political parties. How can third world democracies solve this problem?

No such thing as an honest politician in the third world
Of course its not a democracy because democracies don't actually exist anywhere.
