In the selo there is no canalization. This of course means that when you go to poo, well, it has to go somewhere. All selos solve this using ceптичнa ямa - septic tank, but the real problem is that septik tanks are not all made the same and different selos cannot really have the same type. old selo houses used old designs for the septic tank where you had to remake it, either just move the bathroom to a different location, dig a new hole, clean the old one - there are like 3-4 courses of action, but the idea of why the external toilet is not in the house is that a lot of digging may happen in the future around it, even if you just clean it. Real selo people will talk about it, I know people who digged 12 septic tanks in their selo house. new designs , made in the 2010s make it more possible to just set it and forget it, but old septic tanks were limited to how much shit they could use. even some selos did not even use a septic tank, but just a normal hole.... there are just reasons why the bathroom is not in the house, but it all comes down to canalizations being a very modern thing ( still missing in the selo )
