I'm considering going back to school for a fucking nursing degree (male) since it's so bad
it is rough
>>
Idk. I haven't applied to a single job in my life.
>>
There's no jobs here. Even the fast food job downtown requires a bachelor's degree now. So the few lucky that managed to escape go to South Korea. As for me, there's not much I can do.
>>
>nurse (male)
lol
lmao
>>
>>222395508
Aren't EMTs/ambulance drivers nurses by training?
>>
>>222395471
>Even the fast food job downtown requires a bachelor's degree now.
>in the fucking Philippines
Please tell me you're exaggerating
>>
>>222395396
Should have been born rich lmao

emt work is completely different to nursing, which itself is made up of specialties that are completely different to each other

i.e.
emt
>just you and your partner
>be outside
>more danger, minimal information, focus on a single patient and get them somewhere quick, preferably alive
>have wide range of scope from just first aid to providing something approaching the care available in an ED resus bay
theatre/surgical nursing
>stand in a room all day
>have to precisely know the habits of different surgeons in different surgeries
>need to be able to mind read whats gonna happen next so surgeon isnt left hanging
normal/ward nursing
>deal with many patients over days, weeks
>task prioritization, time management, trying to do many things for many people in a limited amount of time
>have to work with different people, doctors, respiratory therapists, OTs etc. and liaise between them
ed nursing
>patients go in and out, except for the people under involuntary psych holds..............
>basically churning through assessments until they're not super sick or they have a plan
nursing home nursing
>somehow avoid clinical incidents or burning out as you try to take care of 50+ residents by yourself
>deal with carers and LPNs who get barely any training or support
>youre not really supported either
>get to know all the residents quite well (if they care) and be sad when they die

>>222395396
do it, male nursoids are always in demand, especially in emergency or mental health because females nursoids are usually smol and i swear its an unwritten thing to have at least some male staff on in those areas
>>
>>222395396
Its good
>>
>>222396571
surgical nursing seems interesting but very stressful
if you wash some demented patient's ass crack the wrong way or not enough it's not a huge deal, but if you fuck up during a surgery you might kill someone, e.g you drop a surgical instrument or something
normal nursing sounds okay
>>
>>222396643
lel any fuck up could kill someone

https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/medical-device-connectors/examples-medical-device-misconnections
have some fun reading of stupid ways to kill/harm a patient

if you become a nurse, i hope your life becomes more comfy
>>
>>222396748
yeah there is a pretty big shortage of nurses here, normal jobs that are actually possible to get are fucking miserable I can't
the pay is also good for nurses here
>>
That woman has the most normal face in history. How did she become a superstar idol? How good must her film produce blowjob skills BE!?
>>
>>222396571
>emt work is completely different to nursing
Except you need experience with normal nursing first and then compete for a position that's probably both rare and popular. So I guess there's no way around dealing with all the bodily fluids and body parts you rather not touch of smelly old people.
>>

I've been looking for a year so far. Had like two interviews with hundreds of resumes sent. Two friends who've been laid off are similarly fucked and they got way better CVs than I do.
The job market is completely dead, even fucking convenience stores will only hire an "experienced cashier". Junior is the Mid of old and Entry level straight up does not exist.
>>
>>222397290
Yep. Degrees as worthless these days. You gotta have experience doing the job you're applying for or know someone. I'm thinking about starting a business where I bring my guns to schools and show em off.
>>
>>222397162
nursing/emt pathways may be different iyc

but it really is 2 different jobs, what someone learns as a nurse is only relevant in a few ways like talking to a patient, knowing a bit about pathophys/medication/physiology, and some basic general assessment, nurses usually have buddy nurses, doctors etc to get help from, and lots of equipment

emts have to rock up to a scene, figure out whats going on, have minutes instead of an entire shift to get to know a patient, think about extrication, hazards, while very rapidly diagnosing what might be going on without the assistance of teams of doctors, imaging, blood tests etc. to keep someone from deteriorating while they transport the patient back to a hospital

the two jobs are not the same and if your cuntry makes aspiring emts be a nurse first thats just dumb ngl
>>
>>222395396
I have been looking for 2 years
I had to take a job in another field just to get a paycheck but I'm still looking. 2 years, 1000+ applications, ivy league degree, work experience
I have never seen anything like this job market in my life. This is the worst I have ever seen
>>
biggest mistake i ever made was getting out of the army
>>
>>222395471
just go to bali and kidnap some crypto bro degenerates and make bank not that hard
>>
>>222397404
Our police is like that too: first you need to train and work like a regular cop for a few years and then you can apply to become a detective. They say you first need to get street smart, but all a regular cop seems to do every day is more like social work than dealing with actual criminals.

More broadly speaking, although no coworker or boss anywhere seems to want to admit it out loud: there's an increase of all manner of gatekeeping to mask that both the job market and the employers themselves are completely fucked. They want you to be experienced and educated like you're going to be the CEO of a billion dollar corporation but no one is given any control over how the organization is run except for ignorant directors and cowardly middle managers that fuck everything up. They are the only ones not selected for competence.

a true /int/ernationally common experience

Not sure what danger you are talking about, I had to do that job for a while as civil service for conscription and most of the work was just driving old people to the doctor or dialysis patients and some minor injuries.
Although we also had some special cases like a female prisoner or some crazy woman, but they weren't violent.
I was also at some actual emergencies, but for those they usually send a special ambulance with a doctor first.
So you generally don't have much responsibility unless you arrive a lot earlier.(we had one that hung himself and we had to try to CPR, but he was already long dead)
I had one patient with a artificial heart that liked to fumble around with the wires out of his chest, that was a bit concering.
>>
I'm applying for IT jobs but I haven't had much success outside of 1 interview, and I still didn't get the job
>>222397715
I'm honestly considering signing up even though I don't think it's for me. I just need something to do
>>
>>222398652
It was a full-time job, good (but not great) pay, couldn't be laid off, clear career progression
I'd be 6 years away from retiring if I stayed in
>>
>>222395396
it's shit, i got fired this week and just the idea of having to deal with HR again makes me sick.

If youre not already rich your only real option these days is working for the state for a living, any bureocratic position will do. Personally im just graduating as a naval officer and the pay is really good as is and I dont have to worry much about job security
I think I would be better if I had picked anywhere to be in except for the navy. Most of this country's armed forces just sit still in forts all day without doing anything special because we havent had a real war since the 19th century yet they all act super self important and proud inspite never stepping in a battlefield
Here in the navy you have to patrol sea routes, trade routes, take care of big petrol stations, smell sea salt all dah, sometimes travel to the other side of the country or even the world. Just a mess
>>
>>222398248
>first you need to train and work like a regular cop for a few years and then you can apply to become a detective.
It's the same here. Unlike the army, where if you're sufficiently educated you can just start as an officer, the police demands you always climb your way up starting from the rock bottom.
I'm confident this is why the police is universally staffed with idiots at all ranks. Nobody with half a brain cell wants to be stuck handing out speeding tickets for years. The shit pay is enough of a deterrent already without the multi-year humilation ritual.
>>
Your life will be humiliating and miserable here, if you don't have the luxury of nepotism or you're not attractive.
Normies basically wish you kill yourself, if you're not privileged like them.

If you're a struggling man, your city/municipality will use you as free slave labor and you will get medicated into a fat zombie with permanent ED.

This country is still surprisingly backwards when it comes to human rights. Nobody cares because homos, trannies and women are treated well

Programmer. Don't even bother. Every IT department and every tech company is Indian top to bottom and even AI is taking those jobs now. I laugh when people say they are studying Comp Sci.
>>
>>222397638
>ivy league degree, work experience
Grim, what was your degree in?
>>
>>222402450
Business, human resources management and labor relations
I have several years of work experience with labor unions and manufacturing plants and I cannot get DICK when it comes to a job.
I track all my applications and how many turn into interviews and how many turn into offers
I get less than 1% of companies I apply to wanting to interview. I get less than half a percent of places giving a job offer
I have applied to well over 1000 places and I've had about 10 companies interview me and I had one place offer me a job which I took out of desperation for a paycheck
>b-but your ivy league degree
Irrelevant. Hasn't helped at all
>b-but your work experience
Irrelevant. They want 5 years experience for entry level now. That's the state of the modern workplace
>b-but your connections
"Hey bro, I know we were classmates and coworkers and all but I just can't help you. I'm not the hiring manager"

I will forever kick myself for not becoming a welder or plumber or millwright instead of spending 6 years going to undergrad then masters all to get replaced by AI

I ghosted a job offer last week because the pay is insultingly low, bad reviews on the company and job position itself. The application process was suspiciously short also, 1 interview by hr roasties asking useless questions, trying to bait me into saying bad things about myself, I've been to so many interviews that I already know what these idiots want to hear.

Then a 10 minute interview by what would be my supervisor.

I felt like I could do better, there's no way that I'm so retarded that it was the only offer available for me.
>>
>>222404459
And by the way I took out a huge loan to survive, I've been paying it off with the money I loaned. I'm so fucked lol.
>>
Same as everywhere else. Entry positions are dead as bricks. There’s a ton of high demand fields but those obviously don’t refer to fresh out of school retards.

I’ve been commuting 80km one way to my entry position job for a year now. I had to buy a cheap shitty car and spent something like €4k on gasoline and another €2k on repairs for the duration of it. I think I’ll finally be able to score a better job that’s actually in my town this autumn. I have exp and is gonna be job searching while being employed. Those are the two prime factors short of getting in via nepotism while job searching

Its supposedly pretty bad but i got a job right out of college at the place i was working at part time.

Im doing Power Plattform dev, the pay is pretty low and the job site is far away and there is no home office but at least i have a job. Im trying to get a better gig after getting some more experience and certs

Even the shittiest blue collar jobs with mandatory overtime and night shifts have no problem with finding candidates now. Shit's fucked for the average guy here, especially for young people with no prior experience and for people 50+ because employers refuse to hire them on principle.

Until you realize directors make 250k doing it at a F500 then it's not so meme anymore
>>
>>222410002
Those directors didn't get the job from the degree they got the job from being friends or family of the Stein-berg in charge
>>
I'm at the stage where I've spent so long unemployed that even when I get interviews i end up ghosting them myself because I'm so tired of interviews that go nowhere or where they dangle you along for a month plus
>>
>>222410252
You're not missing out, I got laid off recently and all my interviews since have been companies adding extra rounds or ghosting after 2+ interviews. I'm just going to take my severance money and travel a while rather than stressing myself out over this bullshit. Can't wait for the inevitable "WHY DOES NOBODY WANT TO WORK?" news articles to completely ignore how miserable this garbage process is.
>>
>>222410002
>Until you realize directors make 250k doing it at a F500 then it's not so meme anymore
the directors you're talking about rose to that position well before AI, and are now well entrenched and part of the corporate bureaucracy

the hammer is coming down on them too, via companies pushing for voluntary retirement programs

One of the things that kept me cold-feet about looking out for a job is how horrible they treat you, friends that took jobs at the first opportunity that was presented to them only to left burnt-out and paid slave wages if taken into account my country's inflation.
Couldn't get family members to recommend me into a position for the current shortages
I'm trying to get into trades, but I have to wait
