I never really use the starter once you get far enough in the game and have access to many different pokemon.I don't like feeling bound to the starter pokemon on your team of six in games with hundreds of choosable characters
the reason to choose the grass starter is that it is one of the best grass types usually while you can catch better fire and water types later in the game
