My assumption is that George RR Martin is going to do the same thing in order to get out of having to finish Game of Thrones.

Midland is mostly a representation of late medieval France, so IMHO Gaiseric's role in Berserk is more similar to Charlemagne (or arguably, to Clovis) rather than to the real Gaiseric.So I would say Gaiseric is more like a Frank. Take your pic whether Franks should be represented by the French or the Flemish (closest extant descendants of the Franks) flag.
