Another likely cause is that this turret is simply not visable by the main sightlines and thus it wasn't important to update it. The latter happened to the eastern facade of the Berlin Palace, which remained in its renaissance state despite the building getting updated into a classicist style. Simply because this eastern facade had no representative value.
