>>222470060To be fair, the U.S. healthcare system employs a huge number of people, and many of them earn salaries that are extremely high compared to Europe while doing 1/3. Cheap drugs from Germany threaten that.

>>222483347>tariffs paid by americans>for products made in the US because tariffs force manufacturers to make things domesticallyI need to make sure leaded paint is excluded from whatever the Vietnamese equivalent of the FDA is. So let me understand this, you think the US is making products overseas and then tariffing themselves to make money. The people who pay for tariffs are first and foremost government since they handle all of the international affairs. If ANY other country did this you'd say it was based, but since the US holds a monopoly on global hatred it's all tears.

>>222470368holy shit you got them fuming with this one kek
>>222483452>you think the US is making products overseas and then tariffing themselves to make money. what on earth are you talking about? American companies MAKES shit aboards because its way cheaper than the US due to many factors such as logicstics and abundant in sub local contractors that provided many options (such as raw materials, packaging,...). They arent making money by tariffing themselves i can tell you that, and they DEFINITLY dont like those tariff because its another cost that they will have to pass down to the consumers (they can either reduce their margins to bites the pain, pass 100% of any tarrifs on to the consumers or something in the middle ground). >The people who pay for tariffs are first and foremost government since they handle all of the international affairs.what are you talking about?! if you are talking about subsidy provided by the goverment to any companies that being affected by trump's tariffs then i sadly have to break it to you that at least here WE dont do that, nor does any other countries that being affected do that, as per my ball knowledge. If your plastic dildo is 27 bucks instead of 15 pior to the trade war, then YOU are the one paying for it dumbassalso, you can read it online thohttps://taxfoundation.org/blog/trump-tariffs-raise-prices-consumers/
>>222470060Golems just serving their masters.
>>222483847If anything is manufactured abroad in a different country you pay for it coming into the country. That means it primarily affects international trade not domestic trade. The only way you're paying for tariffs is if your country's businesses and government are importing too much. The whole reason they exist is to force domestic manufacturing, government actively loses money from them UNLESS trade is performative and that foreign manufacturing was in fact a way to mask giving subsidies to foreign industries. Tariffs apply to things like oil, food, and other major resources that countries trade with each other most of it isn't consumer goods. If this thread was about a random country tariffing goods from the US I can guarantee you people would be praising it, but when the US does it suddenly it's this evil mechanism for fleecing the public.
>>222483347>you DO know that the one paying for those tarrifs are the american people, right?Do redditors not realize this "gotcha" falls apart by virtue of the fact that the response to tariffs are always counter-tariffs?

>>222469885it's not affordable. the deductions of social security, pension (lmao you will never see a cent from that) and taxes are about 40% on minimum wage and don't get me started on anyone earning more.the american system is better for anyone with the slightest bit of personal responsibility (ie save some money).
>>222484015The US arrests people who try to bring home prescription drugs bought in Mexico.
>>222484012>>222484012>Do redditors not realize this "gotcha" falls apart by virtue of the fact that the response to tariffs are always counter-tariffs?thats call a trade war dumbass, they are protecting their industry? All trade war starts when country A put taxes on imports of country B. and like what are you talking about? You are paying for those tarrifs at the check out line. Dont they teach econ 101 at uni in the states? I literally have a headache just by replying to you. and let not talk about how those damn tarrifs will raise YOUR country's inflation rate. The affect of those tarrifs might not be clear now, but down the line it will, I added the link to the federal reserve bank down for more clarification. Your country CPI YoY is like what? 4%? you can thanks trump for thathttps://www.frbsf.org/research-and-insights/publications/economic-letter/2026/03/effects-of-tariffs-on-components-of-inflation/
>>222484275A trade war is between countries not people, most of the time you'll notice it's about food, energy, and cutting subsidies. Honestly trade wars affect countries internally because it gives government an excuse to start axing failing businesses. You literally can't win if you have too many labor protections.
>>222484015It's real, kike.https://www.euractiv.com/news/us-opens-trade-probe-into-german-drug-pricing-escalating-pressure-on-europe/
>>222469885To be fair, we should invest more into innovative pharmaceutical research but also let more international products onto our market. Like we don’t even have Tazarotene anymore and only one brand producing Tretinoin. Also our pharmaceuticals aren’t nearly as cheap as Indian stuff.
>>222484005>The only way you're paying for tariffs is if your country's businesses and government are importing too muchthe US trade deficit is 70 bils in 2025 bro, and your people are paying for it at the checkout likehttps://www.nbcnews.com/select/shopping/tariffs-consumer-prices-2026-rcna348279>he whole reason they exist is to force domestic manufacturing, government actively loses money from them UNLESS trade is performative and that foreign manufacturing was in fact a way to mask giving subsidies to foreign industries.your manufacturing is driven by high tech, the problem with trump's tarrifs is how idiotic and board it is. US monthly industrial production increase 13% YoY, but it comes with increase in 4% CPI June. Do you really think companies like Apple will move their how operation to the US? Not a chance. If any companies want to do bussines in the us, they will need an already existing supplies chain, not just goverment incentives. also the us already have mechanisms that can be use to protect their domestic industry base, things like Anti-dumping duty helps. Do a precision tarrifs, dont just do it based on trade >If this thread was about a random country tariffing goods from the US I can guarantee you people would be praising it, but when the US does it suddenly it's this evil mechanism for fleecing the public.it have nothing to do with what we are arguing lol
>>222484692>based on tradetrade imbalance
>>222484692The US trade deficit is measured in consumer goods primarily tariffs are also case by case so you'd need to look and see if those items specifically are being tariffed. And the US has the second largest manufacturing output period, high tech or no. The vast majority of tariffs have to do with energy or food, the trade deficit is mostly consumer goods that I quite frankly couldn't care less about. Outside of essentials I purchase very little of anything so if you're trying to frame this as affecting me personally it doesn't in the slightest because the US is sufficient on food and oil. The stuff with the petrodollar and forever wars does affect me however, but tariffs have been a complete meme that only fucked over small businesses.
