Ive also gone to pricier hair salons and they told me the exact same bs. I have to shower first thing everyday to remove my messy bedhair or it will not go. I condition well in the shower everyday, and almost alternating days I shampoo also (a lot of the time they say to shampoo once a week but its impossible for this type of hair because you need to use so much product and what shampoo does is it cleanses the product buildup, if you dont do that the products will stop working in like 2-3 days like conditioner will not condition, but at the risk of drying your hair out or damaging it if you do it too often but ive never actually seen this happen with mine so). I use like a gumball size of conditioner quite a bit. When my hair is wet it goes down to my lips when pulled straight down the front. Then after showering I apply leave-in conditioner (sometimes I use like a few drops of coconut oil but you dont necessarily and too much can ruin your hair too). I use the Aussie brand "bouncy curls detangling leave-in conditioner" but ive also used umberto gianni. You should mess around with formulas. It's trial and error with which products and which amounts and how you apply it etc but the way im telling you should work. . You have to use leave-in conditioner not regular. With my hands i apply it to all my hair, focusing on the ends at the front, back and sides, but also the whole even my scalp because with hair of our type our hail gets so dry its all about moisturising it as much as possible and retaining it. I use an old t-shirt and wrap it around as a turban to dry for like 15 mins, dont use a towel or itll get frizzy because it needs to be a perfectly smooth surface or the friction creates frizz when drying later. You can use a spray to keep your hair moisturised later in the day.

Also one thing is your hair can look terrible in certain pictures or lighting but actually in decent lighting which is what people will see outside it looks better than you think. Its good if you can find a location with good lighting like I find changing rooms in clothing stores Ik one that has good lighting and great mirrors. As a kid it gives you so much anxiety and stress and even black people sometimes have this issue but seriously theres a lot of ways around it or to deal with it. It shouldnt be your defining issue.
