On Friday I took a all day school trip to watch county court proceedings including(1) a custody hearing,(2) first appearances (people who just got arrested Zooming in from the jail to have their bail and court date set),(3) traffic courtama
>>222517294Maybe I should have made this thread earlier in the day when more people were awake, oh well
>>222517294Where is the green text?
>>222517549I included a green frog
School trip?
>>222517566I’m a law student, we were required to visit the county courthouse to see how the law is actually practiced
>>222517568Well did you learn anything?
>>222517294did you get to use the phrase "your honor" at any point
>>222517294Was it as mind-numbingly boring I'd imagine a day in court would be?
>>222517294I work in emergency response and I went to a dispute today where some hyper morbidly obese dude tried to burn his wifes house down (they're getting divorced) but he fucked up and almost died of smoke inhalation.
>>222517590No, I talked to a few judges but I just called them Judge ____. Should I have?>>222517581>>222517598I learned criminals are fucking retarded. Two different people confessed to their crimes accidentally when the judge asked them if there was anything they’d like to say. One of them was a sex offender charged with being on school property and his immediate response to being asked if he had any reason the prosecutors requested bail should be reduced was to say “I was only at the school because some kid was fighting my kid and I went there to protect him.” Judge basically made fun of him and called him a dumbass. That was another thing that surprised me, how curt and harsh the judges were. Like they didn’t try to soften their words at all
>>222517607based chud
>>222517661No he was a fat retard and she was much better looking. He cheated on her with another fat retard as far as I can tell.
>>222517949Why are fat people so retarded?
>>222517949>No he was a fat retard and she was much better lookinYou dont suffer in the land of Costco amd Bucc'ees
>>222517568what was your LSAT score
>>222517651You must be going and a pre-law student. None of this should be surprising to you. You have a long road ahead.
>>222517651They are fucking stupid almost every time which is why they resort to crime. My dad was a juror on a trial in the early 2000s, don't remember if it was intimidation or or attempted murder. But the suspect was a dumb cholo kid and some of his "people" were in the audience. When they all went to lunch my dad got in an elevator and a bunch of the old cholos followed him and just openly started talking to each other (in Spanish) about how they should jump him or harass him into a no guilty verdict so he just turned on the little voice memo recorder in his pocket. My dad is 100% beaner chud mestizo but people always think he's Persian/Armenian and they for some reason didn't think he could understand Spanish. Dad immediately got out of the elevator and played the recording to a bailiff who was right at the elevator exit who also spoke Spanish and then cholos claimed they couldn't speak Spanish (they had tattoos in Spanish). My dad is a chuddy suit and tie type and also worked with police pretty often at the time doing white collar fraud investigations so cops didn't believe the cholos when they later claimed my dad threw up gang signs at them kek.
>>222518145generational retardation
>>222518214The retards always have more kids too :(
>>222517651>Judge basically made fun of him and called him a dumbass. That was another thing that surprised me, how curt and harsh the judges were. Like they didn’t try to soften their words at alli went to a courtroom with school when i was 13 and i had the same shock, the judge was strait up making jokes and calling them stupid, well they were pretty retarded but they really got humiliated in front of a full classroom of 13yo laughing at them
>>222520696Bullying people who deserve it is a surprisingly effective method. I should be used more here. If you're an idiotic piece of shit who's created a society weakening crime, at the very least we should get to laugh at your expense.
>>222517651>>222520696This is interesting. I had a traffic case in circuit court last year and the judge who had a reputation for being a hard ass was really polite and professional. If it seemed like a good faith mistake he showed leniency while handing down probation. One guy violated his probation and he was still respectful, just straight up gave him his options, both of which were reasonable. One case involved stuff like child custody disputes and he called both the defense and prosecution close to the bench and turned on a white noise machine. The one time I saw his face change was when he looked at a case of one guy who racked up like 6 DUIs, including after his license was suspended. Some of them were less than a year apart lol. He was like "30 days in the county detention center. I understand it's hard to get around here without a car but if you keep racking these up after losing your license I don't see how we can help you here."
>>222520696What kind of cases were these?
>>222518096170>>222518115I’m in law school. Vaguely being aware and seeing it in person are two very different things.
>>222517651>>222518145Intelligence determines human existence to an incredible extent.Whether you can reach for the stars or are better suited to live in a mud hut.It is a travesty that intelligence study is against the current societal orthodoxy.
>>222523305Intelligence study isn't against the current vibe. The current administration here seems to have a special hate for people with disabilities, including low intelligence and developmental issues.
>>222523390>
>>222523390>isn't against the current vibeYes it is. Intelligence studies do not get funding and do not get published. And not only that, researchers get branded as heretics (racists) and burned at the stake (cancelled).Instead we get "psychology" which is just straight up pseudoscience from the very beginning with unreplicable studies, wild claims, "I saw it in a dream" level sources, and all around ideologically motivated nonsense.
>>222523432It's true. Certain famous individuals repeatedly refer to black colleagues as "very low IQ" and the media plays softball. They're currently messing around with the funding for and handling of special education and non institutional treatment. There's a good chance they're trying to bring mental health care back 80 years. >>222523522Richard Lynn and JP Rushton weren't accepted into some journals but their work was often garbage quality pushing wacky theories that they practically made up. Their books got mainstream attention and reviews in major papers though. Same with the Bell Curve. Jordan Lasker has a lot of fans among the current elite, and Richard Hanania hasn't had major roadblocks despite supporting apartheid.
>>222523687>Richard Lynn and JP RushtonThat's the point, mostly crazy old people with ideological reasons (often racism) and nothing left to lose participate in intelligence study because it is a complete academic career suicide. There are next to no respected researchers and high quality studies because anyone can see what it does to your career and your future and even if you decide to study it out of interest/principle you will receive no support because it is against the current dogma.James Watson probably the most respected researcher in his field was completely canceled for stating an obvious fact backed up by every single study done on the subject ever.
>>222524300There are respected intelligence researchers for sure. It's a big field. Though you will make friends of a specific type if you get into the racial stuff. James Watson wasn't cancelled for speaking on heredity or research. He made comments about coworkers that would in any case be labeled as making a hostile work environment. That was after revealing that he made an insincere apology and making similar comments about women etc in the past.
>>222524300>>222523687Lynn was is a horrible example to use to advocate intelligence studies. He literally just made up scores for nations to suit his predetermined conclusion. He literally claimed some countries had a median IQ of 40
>>222524479That's my point. He was a bad researcher who got bac press for it. And yet he still got softball coverage
>>222524479>James Watson wasn't cancelled for speaking on heredity or research>In 2019, after the broadcast of a documentary where Watson reiterated these views on race and genetics, CSHL revoked his honorary titles and severed all ties with him.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Watson
>>222526552meant for>>222524452>>222524479>Lynn was is a horrible example to use to advocate intelligence studies.Exactly my point, the field has such a strong stigma that only crazy people will engage in it despite intelligence being the defining factor of human existence.
>>222517294>bailRetarded system.
>>222526552Maybe he shouldn't have called out coworkers specifically like that. That can get you fired anywhere. FWIW this hasn't really affected the perception of his broader work. It's not mentioned in mini bios.>>222526636Normal people work in intelligence research. Race science stuff is what attracts quacks. Intelligence also doesn't define your existence. Way more intelligent people than you think have mental illness, developmental issues, substance use issues, etc.
>>222526784Yeah cash bail is outdated and unfair
>>222517294Were any cases processed within a day? Many years ago a senior citizen destroyed the left side mirror of my mothers car (she was stationary and was letting him pass on a tight spot on the road) and then comitted hit-and-run because he was too senile to notice. Despite having multiple witnesses in favor of my mother the court case dragged on for multiple weeks before our side finally won.
>>222527190Always annoys me when watching the many police cam Youtube channels I follow. >suspect (entire encyclopedia of crimes) was released on bail Like damn, he fucking ran from the cops, crashed into a house, assaulted police and was on 92 different drugs. Cough up some cash, free to go until court date... Of course almost always followed by >suspect later violated the bail conditions etc Here in Swedistan you're in jail until you either get sent to prison or get freed by court after it's all done.
>>222527456Yeah every state here is different. Some rely heavily on cash bail, some have limits on bailing yourself out, some have limits on how much can be charged, etc. Some are moving away from it, so you're either released or held based on your risk to the community or prior history. That's sort of how my state works. Usually if you're not dangerous or the judge thinks you'll show up in court you're released, maybe with some rules to follow and a condition that you'll pay money if you don't show up. If you're a flight risk or dangerous or have skipped court before they'll 100% hold you without bond though. I think that's reasonable.
>>222527439Did she have to pay compensation and lose her license?
>>222527624Yeah that makes sense.
>>222527769My mother? No. The senior citizen who damaged her car? Lost his license and had to pay for the court costs. His insurance paid for the damaged car. Apparently if he didn't do the hit-and-run then it would have probably never went to the court in the first place.
>>222528118Yeah that's what I was wondering. Thought the senior citizen was female for some reason. Maybe my brain is warped from driving behind old ladies who are oblivious and hug the center line or go 20mph below the limit on a busy road
>>222517372We're awake
>>222517294Ever been in trouble before yourself? Or done anything illegal and not been caught?
>>222527169>Intelligence also doesn't define your existence. It does. If you're stupid you will never attain a profession requiring mental capacity and are more likely to end up a criminal and in prison. That's like saying that money can't buy happiness etc. stupid woman shit.
>>222533923It's a generality within a certain range. People below like 70 IQ are often totally harmless. It's the 80-90ish range where you MAY have a higher likelihood of issues, especially if there's other factors in place. My IQ is in the 140s and I'm a high functioning autist, and I know enough intelligent people to say confidently that they're not angels.
>>222534086>MAY have a higher likelihood of issuesIdk about you but I see it as a MAJOR issue that I literally couldn't do my current job, which I very much enjoy, if I were 80-90 IQ.Furthermore, on a societal level, modern civilization literally isn't possible with a low intelligence populace as we can see in Africa.
>>222535097Africa is civilizing though
>>222534086>People below like 70 IQ are often totally harmless. It's the 80-90ish range where you MAY have a higher likelihood of issuesA society is only as strong as the weakest link in the chain, unless you're willing to be totalitarian and suppress everyone's voice and power/force to resist and even that is difficult to enforce. I realize racism isn't in my best interests as a brown, but even if you have 1,000 expert 150IQ geniuses at the helm 24/7 it still doesn't matter if you have 1,000,000 80IQ broke retards who are always liable to blow themselves up for a fantasy sky ghost/warlord prizes/commie gibs etc because force shits on reason's back 9 times out of 10. It truly does not matter how good your elite top1% are if the 99% masses are 70IQ on average. You could transplant East Asians/Ashkenazim/Nordics into the leadership of every SSA cunt today and it still won't change much or ever make them "developed". Same applies to all brown "global south" countries.
>>222527439The only ones were the people who were pleading guilty to their charges, all others had proceedings before that or scheduled some after that.>>222531116Afternoon>>222533759I speeded once and got a ticket
>>222537950>I realize racism isn't in my best interests as a brownYou browns have the most to gain from intelligence.Imagine if Nasser had started a program to increasing the average IQ of the populace instead of fighting Israel or whatever.
>>222517294Why do you still have school shit nigga, it's June
170 lsat law students be like>today we took a fiewd twip over zoom to watch court pwoceedings
>>222517651Granted, a sex offender shouldn't be on a school campus. But what should he have done? How can he legally protect his child?
>>222527439My mom was once driving down a very narrow one way street in the hills and some ancient obese idiot in a Audi A6 parked halfway on the curb on said one way street (signs clearly said no parking) and right when she was passing about 1 meter away he just swung his door open. She ended up sheering the entire door off. Old fat ass wasn't hurt at all but tried to sue my mom for wreckless driving she was going 30mph in a 35mph zone kek. Judge promptly told him to fuck off and he should have checked before opening the door. My mom had a gigantic Touareg at the time and they're extremely easy to see.
By the way, you're a rising 2L, right? That's what I recall from some of your earlier posts. I'd recommend taking your law school's foundational tax law course before you graduate. It'll be helpful no matter what practice area you end up in. Even if you so something that's completely unrelated, you'll be able to flag potential tax issues to the client/your colleagues and refer them to a specialist. That's a great value-add.Doing some tax coursework would also give you access to some of the excellent career opportunities that tax has to offer. It's perhaps the most in-demand and marketable practice area out there. Plus, the work is awesome and feels more like the authentic practice of law than anything else. The people are generally very pleasant, low-key, and nonjudgmental---the exact opposite of the rude judge that you mentioned. A major reason why I went into tax was because I noticed that tax lawyers are, to be blunt, a lot nicer than most other lawyers. That's my two cents. Do what you want to do, but know that taking even one tax course in law school can be very valuable.
>>222539881Actually it was in person>>222539933Call the cops?>>222540025I’m taking tax this upcoming year
>>222517294Also, and I forgot to mention this, there was one guy who was suing his father-in-law slash/ landlord for a restraining order arguing he had caused him emotional distress by collecting rent too aggressively.
>>222537950Then every society is weak. Every society on Earth has weak links that are roughly equally weak. Something like 1-2% of the population is functionally retarded, a sociopath, a deadbeat, etc
>>222541147>I’m taking tax this upcoming yearGood luck!
>>222542900>Every society on Earth has weak links that are roughly equally weakNope. The bottom 1% "subhuman" caste in every society is wildly different depending on the average level of subhumanity/humanity of the general populace. Also they can only drag you down so far, where the center of mass of your society falls is also importantYour bottom1% just sell crack and spend all day shooting each other in gang warfare and it's enabled by lax laws and your lack of willingness to regulate (firing squad) their behaviorOur bottom1% are such retarded niggers they think blowing themselves up in the middle of a crowd of tourists will get each of them 72 sexy tight celestial virgins and spend 24/7 contemplating jihad for a fake sky fairy and drag down the entirety of society for their bullshit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_Sharm_El_Sheikh_bombingsAfrica's bottom1% mix aforementioned religious fanaticism with extreme barbarism and spend all day contemplating how best to cook their cannibalized neighbors' limbs after they slaughter them the instant their dictatorships look the other wayAll quite different in scale and the discrepancy is exaggerated by the average of society and how well the 99% can force the 1% to stay in line
