>Are there no roman time churches in Britain?
No, though the oldest church in England is St Martin's in Canterbury. It was built in 597 AD when Æthelberht of Kent married the Frankish princess Bertha, the daughter of Charibert I, with Pope Gregory subsequently assisting in the Christianisation of the English peoples. One of the walls is thought to be of Roman date, though whether that building was an earlier church, a secular building or if it's even Roman at all is not known with absolute certainty.

I know that there is evidence of a house-church at Lullingstone Roman Villa, which is thought to have survived until the 11th or 12th centuries when it collapsed/was demolished.

Also, pic related is thought to be the oldest surviving mosaic of Christ and it comes from Dorset.

>>
>>222534362
What the hell, that's precisely what they used, strategic bombers in WW2 simply were not able to hit anything accurately
I read a couple of books on the Bomber Command in WW2 a few years ago and it contained some frankly astonishing stats, when trying to target specific targets such as train stations or bridges or refineries the amount of bombs that came close to the target was in the single digits, and scarcely improved during the war
That's why they started bombing cities en masse, because they weren't able to do anything else with a modicum of efficacy

also true, didn't mean to deny that
but "only" if you consider humanitarian aspects, if you "just" want to win the war militarily, it's probably useful in any case.
vietnam war mainly comes to mind, although the US defeat was to a large degree political, if they had gone all out they might have won idk
>>222534427
they weren't particularly accurate but they did hit and impact industry too. The UK was even able to sink a German battleship at port in Norway with strategic bombers and huge ass bombs (tallboys). Yes there was a shitton of collateral damage and even deliberate attacks on civilians, but that doesn't mean it didn't also hit relevant infrastructure.
>>
Austria is garbage as expected, guess the real World Cup starts next week.
>>
>>222534527
>vietnam war mainly comes to mind
I was just about to mention that
With Operation Rolling Thunder the US vomited an inordinately humongous amount of bombs on North Vietnam, and achieved nothing because there wasn't really anything to bomb and what little industry there was was interred almost immediately
The strategic bombing campaigns on the Ho Chi Minh Trail, which lasted for 10 years with thousands of sorties per year, didn't stop the North from paving a four-lane road with four different petrol pipelines eventually
On the other hand, American and Southern Vietnames tactical air forces, during the 1972 Easter Offensive, basically saved South Vietnam from extinction (in the same occasion, after saving Kontum by directing air support, the famous Paul Vann died) for another 2-3 years

all true, but the strategic bombings certainly weren't nice for the North Vietnames either and without them they'd have probably done better.
anyway I respect them for their resistance against the US desu, they took a fuckton of punches and still came out on top. For a big chunk of my life I avoided listening to music with cyrillic singing (don't know why) except some Bulgarian stuff of course but I'm starting to accept it more and more, will check them out that's a great song.

>very nice. I'm a bit jelly of the old Roman ruins in France and Britain, we barely have those here apart from some in the Rhine area
I wouldn't say that, many were destroyed in Britain and it was never as thoroughly Romanised as SW Germany
Hadrian's Wall is interesting enough, but the Saxon Shore forts are the only real major architecture surviving from the period other than a lighthouse at Dover Castle.
There was a unique beehive temple in Scotland, nicknamed Arthur's O'on, that lasted until 1743 when the local laird had it taken down so he could use the masonry to dam a river. Five years later the dam was washed away in a flood lol

Yes, most provinces have a more substantial number of Roman sites/monuments/ruins than Britain and better-preserved too, but I do like what we have.

Kick-off for the second-half may be delayed by 15 minutes due to the thunderstorm, apparently. If it is, the players would then have an additional 15 minute warm-up, so a fucking 45 minute '''half-time''' overall.
