My Mom got it for me when she went thrifting. I love anything and everything Steinbeck but the one I really want to read apart from East of Eden is his Russian journals. He's one of the only Western journalists that toured the USSR immediately after WWII, and thus his POV is super valuable and unique given he saw everything from the Caucasus to Ukraine and up to Leningrad.
