Does your country have native minority languages?

How are they treated in your country?
Are they promoted? Repressed? Is there a total indifference?
>>
Here in the UK there are efforts being made to keep our languages alive.

The most common native language after English is Welsh, with roughly 600,000 fluent speakers - of which about 150,000 to 200,000 use it as their first language of daily life.

For comparison there's also about 600,000 Polish speakers in the UK - the largest foreign language here.

Manx and Cornish speakers are also growing, with the languages now being taught to children and radio shows being made in the languages.
I would guess maybe today there's 2000 4000 Manx speakers, and 500 - 1500 Cornish speakers.

Unfortunately Scots, Irish and Scottish Gaelic are not fairing as well.
There's probably about 30,000 - 50,000 fluent Scottish Gaelic speakers, but basically nobody uses for daily life, apart from maybe a hundred or so elderly people in the remotest islands....

Scots is just even more drunken Geordie

why do scots act like they're the repressed minority and not the people who willingly joined forces with the english to conquer great britain?

Highlanders (Gaelic Speakers) were oppressed by Lowland Scots (Scots / English speakers) and all starved or fled to Canada, New Zealand, etc.
Lowlanders were more passionately ruthless in the empire than the English and were massively overrepresented in colonising Africa, India etc.
But then Mel Gibson released Braveheart and ever since every Scot has believed they're a victim of English persecution.
