I've worked in international trade in ecommerce for more than a decade. The "de minimis" rule, the abolition of which this picture is in reference to, is one of the greatest scams in history and a perfect example as to why neoliberalism failed and people are willing to embrace authoritarianism. I couldn't understand why it existed on my first day in the job and it has just looked worse and worse with each passing year.

There were a shitload of fulfillment centers right across the US border in Tijuana that existed solely because of this and I believe Serbia sort of had this going on as well in the EU. Just more completely unnecessary weight on the scales in favor of deindustrialization.And if anyone in the EU thinks the 150 EUR threshold was generous here in America it was $800.
