Though a lot of it seems pretty challenging, I recognize many of the words (though less so grammatical structures), and know how to look up the ones I don't know.I'm not quite at the stage where I can confidently watch anime with no subtitles yet, though I can recognize a surprising amount of the vocab. E.g. the one I was watching recently was "Oh Boy, Was I Wrong About Her" and I think one of the words I recognized was 付き合う or 付き合い or something, which I had recently learned using WK.Forgot to mention, but since 5 months ago I've been using WaniKani in conjunction with Duolingo. Honestly since I'm ethnically Chinese and had to go to Chinese school for a while, WK might actually be a waste of money lmao, but it does do the sort of job Duo does with making you stick consistently to a schedule. Likely won't renew my WK subscription.Will probably transition to Anki, but if my memory serves correct that's closer to WK's vocab model than Duo's "full sentences" model, which involves grammar, and I feel like the latter is what I need more practice in that WK is woefully inadequate at teaching by design.

I suck at learning this language. I'm not interested at all in japanese video games, anime or other culture. I just like the script. I'm able to remember obscure mainland chinese simplifications and variants because I find them fun but not the actual language as is spoken and used
