Only poor people need to know how to use that.

it's weird to think there are places where manual isn't the norm

they tried to sell me an automatic last time, how dare these motherfuckers, that’s like calling me a mouthbreathing retard

Why would you WANT to drive manual? It's just another chore to be bothered with

SAAAAAAAAR

>>
>>222937665
It's easy to spot new drivers (or americans) ((or women)) because they love to brag about driving a manual. They feel the need to show everyone how they don't stall anymore (they still do) and how they barely roll backwards when starting on a hill and how smoothly they shift gears. The bar is so brutally low.
>>
>>222937977
Because it's not a chore unless you're retarded or extremely new to it. It involves nothing.

>>222938072
Also this. Manual transmissions reward good drivers and punish shitty ones. It can last 10 years if you're not retarded, or it needs to be changed after a year or two. Even when it "needs" to be changed, you can still drive with it, you just need to adjust your shifting.
>>
>>222937665
Manual is only good for a weekend car when you want to feel an enjoyment from a driving and be entirely focused at it
>>
>>222938197
if your brain doesn’t tell your arm to shift without actually thinking about it you are literally a brainlet.

After a week of driving stick I stopped thinking about it and don't remember stalling since. If you get any mental load doing it, you're too stupid to drive in general.

The difference there is that the heat is an actual problem whereas driving stick isn't a problem or something that requires skill or even effort.

The interesting thing is that neither the clutch pedal nor the gearstick is attached to anything mechanical past their respective housings – they are merely the actuators for the DCT. But contained in both are the precise feedbacks associated with the operation of a manual gearbox. And it feels weirdly perfect.

The tactility is the thing that reinforces the impression - there’s a familiar weight to the clutch (turns out it’s 15kg, the same as the last manual Ferrari, the 599), the same self-centered springing to the gearstick, itself the usual aluminium cylinder atop a slim wand of Ferraris of yore. The mechanical feedbacks feels exactly – and we mean precisely – as they should. And yet, that mechanical feeling is purely that - a system designed from the core block of machined billet steel to replicate the sensations of a manual while being connected by nothing but electricity.

It’s a true ‘by-wire’ system, so the gearstick and clutch only provide signals for the actuation of those first six gears of the DCT, plus reverse. And yet there’s such sophistication here that there’s almost force feedback from the pedal and stick. So precise are the algorithms that if you’re wonky with the inputs, you’ll be rewarded with a jerky start or even a stall - all part of the experience, says Ferrari.

I hate modern cars and it's basically impossible to find a 30+ year old ride with automatic transmission here so all my cars so far have been manual.

Had no choice but to learn since all the driving school cars were manuals. And my first car (Volvo 940) was also manual.
But these days I drive a 1974 Dodge Dart. Slant 6, automatic. It's slow as a turd, suspension is more boat than car, drum brakes all around, no AC, crank windows and still has a cassette player. I love it.

Nobody said that retard. It's pretending that driving a manual is a challenge in any way, shape or form that's annoying. You people out here can't do shit and always cry out when you're called out for not being able to do shit. You only admit to your inadequacies when they're so wide spread that no one cares about it anymore. The broader cost of this is having to deal with less competent people in general. Can't change a tire, can't jump start a car, can't fix anything in the house, can't send a letter, can't... Fuck all of you brain damaged freaks who act like your inadequacies aren't slowing down if not downright blocking people who got shit to do and normal working hands.

The transmission at the end of the day is a mechanical device. But if I had to choose between making automatic or manual illegal, I would make automatic illegal. They are very much the crowd responsible for decisions such as the EU mandating cameras to make sure the driver even looks at the road. Not everyone is cut out to drive a car, such as the "well it's just a thing to get you from A to B" woman. This is a good example of why they never made flying cars; it would be a disaster given what the average woman can and cannot do
>>
>>222942556
Nothing means anything to cattle brained rats like you. It's fine if everyone pretends to be a woman or is unemployed in their 20s living with mommy and daddy it ain't that much of a deal! Well tell you what boss... it is. Because ain't no man an island. A person who can't drive a manual is mentally inferior!!! Imagine being fine with someone who can't tie their shoes or do simple maths in his head being able to vote? Same with all these skills you deem minor that a shit ton of people just skip.

Well obviously a straight road like a highway where you drive at a constant speed(unless you speed to a high degree) isn't gonna fun not matter if manual or automatic.
But curvy country roads with a good car are definitely more fun with manual.
Not sure what your speed limits are but here the default speed for out of town roads is 100km/h which is often a lot faster than you can realistically drive in corners, so depending on the road you can drive pretty sporty without even breaking the law.

Brainlet populist take. But yes, indeed, if you want the most communist side of, say, the US, it's this indirectly implied mentality that driving is a right, not a privilege
>maybe paired with a mandatory checkup every half year for 600€
Again brainlet populist take which you then followed with some retarded emotional appeal. You demand freedom without responsibility. Pro tip: if you wanna kill someone, drive them over with a car. It likely results in the least legal consequences for you

Something extremely annoying when driving a manual is being stuck behind an automatic driver for a long time because they somehow always oscilate between that speed where you need to shift between 2nd and 3rd gear over and over again to compensate for their super weird driving where they sometimes slow down a lot for no reason to just accelerate and go back to normal for a bit.
