>it somehow took my town nearly a decade to build a "pocket park" (small patch of grass with a small pavilion)>this is somehow front-page newsdoes your locality have nothing going on
I dont even want to read the news nowaday, its depressing eitherwaybut i hear they are building a HSR line in my home city so thats something (i dont dig deeper because it could send me in a sense of hopeless despair)
>>222941717My city is popping, we have car shows and farmers markets at the town square in the summer

>>222941717>does your locality have nothing going onMy little shithole town has been stuck in time since the 80's.
>>222942920It's nice, they even sold cans of beer that you could carry around with a beer koozie
>>222941717Too much going on
>>222943268how much could be going on in finland
>>222941717lol I ran the town paper for a few years and I struggled every week honestly to come up with enough to write. you know what i ended up doing? I realized everyone buys the paper when their picture is in it or their kids/grandkids. And ofc selling adsso not joking I made maybe half the paper about sports events and such. Besides, its the community events that people want to hear about. I didn't get complaints straight up people said oh why'd you stopMy favorite thing though is interviewing people and writing stories about people's lives and careers. But my most important job was something i hate. covering local politics. so boring, these meetings. People simply must stay informed, however. I would almost rather clean out a septic tank than attend a city council meeting and take notes so i can write stories
>>222944366That can't happen to me since I can't read and write.

>>222941717My town is just a suburb to a larger town a bit down the road these days. Idk why they used to have businesses and stuff here. People had to be able to ride a horse to work or something i guess. Everything that isn’t new housing fails if they try starting it here. It’s so fucking depressing going to local community events where companies in the neighborhood put up stalls and it’s like three geriatric women selling knitted baby hats, the local pizza shop and the one man plumbing firm using his van as an office. Just slap some zoning law on the whole place and force these people to stop, it’s too humiliating being associated with this shit
>>222942282>i dont dig deeper because it could send me in a sense of hopeless despairwhat's depressing about trains?
