Latin as a choice language was actually replaced by Turkish because both languages are ones of the Roman Empire. They made this decision because the Turkish language is still present and a lot of the descendants of Rome (Turks) are currently living in Germany.

sometimes you have the option at taking turkish at the gymnasium as a foreign language instead of english in the 11th-13th grade and doing your abitur(high school final exam) in it. but with the low amount of turks at the gymnasium and their inability to properly speak/write in their native language almost nobody takes it. but it's more common to see russians and ukrainians choosing russian as a foreign language and doing their abitur in that

People struggle with German on the streets nowadays so we use English if we can't communicate with one another. It's the lingua franca after all. We might have to start teaching Mandarin soon though.

Half the Turks here cannot speak Turkish. They can't speak German or English either, just some basic grunts and pointing, and maybe enough words to understand your kebab order

Why do you guys say „ Mashallah” and „ Alhamdulillah ” so often? Like every second sentence.
>>
>>222947630
Turkish is a real fucking pain to learn, can't imagine doing that in high school
>>
>>222948612
But they jusy need a semi basic level, it counts as a foreign language that you start late
>>
I would like to learn at least one turkic language but sadly none are worth the time
>>

Don't know their meaning but mashallah is said when you want to avoid bad luck/evil eye. For example: Someone compliments you about something. For example your health, looks, hair, your child. It could bring bad luck so mashallah is being said as a "counter"/ward it off.
Alhamdulillah is something along the lines of "thank God". Example: How are you feeling? Alhamdulillah/Thank God, I'm feeling great.
There might be some errors since I don't speak Arabic and am not a Muslim anymore but that's what I gathered.
