Good job anon. If you're gonna take care of it at home then keep it in a low light room, make sure it has a box or something to hide in and don't give it cold water. Room temp water is the best.
And make sure you look up their diet before you try feeding it.

I helped a baby jackdaw (Coloeus monedula) about a decade ago that crashed into my balcony. Must have just left the nest because it could barely fly. I kept it alive for two weeks, it stayed out on the balcony the entire time. Then it flew away. Felt good.

I don’t know what that bird eats sorry, if it’s insectivore it might be complicated, with my birbs I used to feed them with some long surgical clamps I had laying around.

>>223019348
haha yeah, told you, lay some newspaper on the bottom of the box, way easier to clean up. also you could make a simulated nest for sleeping, they like it if you also make some sort of roof or something that covers more angles so they can hide, he is probably still terrified of you.

>>
>>223019781
yes they get stressed, don’t handle him if you can avoid it, at least for the first days, after that he’ll be calling you for food and be more relaxed.
also I meant cover the bottom of the box with newspaper, so you can remove it when it gets completely shitted. simulated nest I meant something with a space in the middle where he can sleep, I use old clothes and make a nest shape.
about food I’m really not sure, he probably won’t die if you feed him something like cat food for a day and then buy crickets from the pet store on monday, but maybe someone else knows more than me about this.

Swifts need insects. They've been falling from their nests en masse this year because of heat, shelters are overwhelmed.
You should also give it water drop by drop, depositing it on the side of the beak. If you go too fast it'll drown. I don't think it can drink on its own
>>
>>223020802

It's a baby
Swifts are very bad at walking, they spend their whole life flying and sleep in the air. Baby swifts must not be very good with water
>>
>>223016389
>I saw a wounded birb on the ground so I brought him home so that cats don't eat him, happens iyc?
I hate to tell you this, but you made a mistake. It will most likely die. You should NEVER pick them up; their parents are nearby and are the ones who feed them. You could try using a syringe with some warm rearing formula to mimic what the parents do, but it almost certainly won't survive.
>>
>>223016389
I'd do it too but only if it's a grown bird. If it's a baby the likelihood of it surviving is rather slim.
>>
>>223021617
wrong
>>
>>223021617
So what if parents are nearby if it's wounded and can't fly the second night comes and all the cats come out it's dead
>>
>>223022066
you are 100% correct, it was between certain death and one chance to make it.
the parents can’t really do anything, even if you would have hidden it in some bush, cats can and will get to it.
the bird might die of course, they are fragile, but at least you will have tried and that’s ok.

What does a swift chick eat? Swift chicks feed exclusively on flying insects. Parent birds gather insects from the air and shape them into food balls weighing about one gram for the chick. A single ball can contain up to 1,500 small insects. The natural diet of a swift chick includes, among other things: flies, horseflies, mosquitoes, aphids and bugs, and winged ants. If you find a chick that has fallen to the ground, do not feed it yourself. Caring for a swift chick is very demanding; improper food or care can seriously harm the bird. In captivity, they are usually fed insect-based mixtures, such as mealworms, flies, and a special paste. Here is what to do: Contact the nearest wildlife rehabilitation center immediately. Place the bird in a ventilated cardboard box. As a first-aid measure, you can carefully offer it lukewarm sugar water using a cotton swab applied to the corner of its beak (do not pour water down its throat).

>>
>>223016389
>>223016707
you really should take it to a vet immediately.
if it was wounded by a cat, it won't survive the night without treatment; even though it survived the attack, the chance of a fatal infection is extremely high.

If you cared this much, bring it to a vet as soon as you can. They might or might not charge you money for the treatment. I had a yuuge crane-bird fall into my porch during a storm and broke its wings. I managed to put it into a cardboard box and took it to a vet at a nearby university which have a vet faculty. They didn't charge me anything and probably used the bird to train their students.
>>
>>223024471
look at videos on how take care a bird well, many didnt make it when pick up some in my house
>>
>>223021923
>>223022066
Many bird species leave the nest before they can fly proficiently. During this time, they remain on the ground or on low branches while their parents continue to feed and closely watch over them. Removing these young birds from their natural environment disrupts this vital process of gaining independence and reduces their chances of survival. Any ornithologist will tell you this.
