>>223030653I can't speak for anyone else but I just started learning the japanese writing system(s) and it's going surprisingly well. I was a huge weeb in my teens and so I can pretty much understand the spoken language (at least in animes) so on-ramp was pretty smooth. I figured out hiragana and katakana in a week (using genki 1&2) and I can read and understand simple texts rn but kanji still scares me as you said. Anyways I'm hoping it will stick with daily practice.
