Can people work witch eachother for years in your country and never really know eachother? I've been in the same company for 8 years and still am on a superficial courteous level with my coworkers. I'm the only one like, they're all good friends with eachother, but no one minds that I keep things separate, do my job, barely talk to them and go home. Do people do that in your country? >>223124311I was like that. I don't know why, I guess I'm not normal
>>223124362I know I'm not normal. I just wonder if other countries have a lot of abnormal people like me.
I've never stayed at a job this long. Plus, being bullied during my formative years has made me very critical of others. It disgusts me when Mexican boomers start making gay jokes. I don't think it's worth getting involved with people like that.
>>223124684Sometimes I refuse to believe nearly a decade just went by. People here also make gay jokes, during the first two years I'd fake laugh, now I just don't give a fuck anymore. It just feels like potentially missing on something that could be great, job hopping or never making work friends. Wired in such a way that it's very hard to go beyond cordial with people you can't help but see as strangers.

>>223124311same manMy 30 or so coworkers all know each other, have each other's phone numbers, they even hang out, go to concerts and stuff, and no one talks to me. I don't care because i don't want to talk to them but i think about how weird this is. I wonder if it's because i am really just so inherently unlikeable that no one wants to talk to me or if it's me not doing a conscious effort to connect with other people.

I work at a remote startup and we just had our onsite in Mexico this year. The entire CS team is Mexicans so they just kind of chilled in their own cliques but I did get to grab a beer with one of my reports. But yeah, in general, I don't try to be chummy. I just try to get work done.
>>223124311I've worked for the same delivery company for 16 years. I'm the longest concurrent employee by many years. I don't bother being social with anyone. I know our section chief by name but that's it. Never spent any time with other employees, don't speak to anyone unless it is to answer a question. Don't care, I have seniority and nobody bothers me anyway.
