I’m British in the Americas and I have to say Europeans in general are a lost cause. The whole “Why do Western Hemisphere people think we are rude for not being sociable and smiling?!?! The brightest part of my commute is this really nice black woman from Mississippi who moved up to help her son raise grandkids. We catch the same train and often sit by each other and she sometimes gives me banana bread and food she made for her grandkids and I sometimes buy her a coffee when I stop for one before getting on the train.I can't imagine not exchanging human kindness on public transit.
