Why don't you read books?Talking to someone who's read a lot of books and has a of knowledge and talking to someone who doesn't read is such a different experience. Yes I'm saying if you don't read there's a great chance you're dumb, shallow and have nothing interesting to say.>b-but why are you on here?Because I come to 4chan to have fun. And the average 4channer isn't half as dumb as the average person. Even if most of you don't read.
>>223228008I don't read books because I'm not smart enough to understand them
>>223228008I used to crack through books like peanuts as a kid. Pretty much everything I know comes from my childhood of erudism. Nowadays I dont have the attnetion span. I feel bad for younger generations, it honestly never even began for them.
>>223228008Monoballanon, your writing is still dookie. Why don‘t you just stick to writing in portugese?
I took up reading last year. My last read was Pride and Prejudice. What books do you recomment?

>>223228008I find reading books a very boring activity. I can't help but go to sleep when a book is in front of my face.
>>223228162Yes, anon. It's very true. Don't force yourself to read without joy. At leat not while trying to go back to it. Eating an unpleasant food and a pleasent food is a different experience. Both are food, but the sensations are different. Same thing for books.
>>223228008I do it, a lot. Fiction, non fiction, everything, what I hate the most is all the /lit/ pseuds that only reads philosophy. I'm still an uninteresting friendless khhv thoughbeit
today I started reading this, seems promising, it starts with a lady who has bouncy boobs on a train and a chud thinks she wants to fuck him.
>>223228230>I'm still an uninteresting friendless khhv thoughbeitYou gotta put in practice what you learn in books. Today I read a book about habits and how to change it. I'm putting it into practice. I cleaned de dishes right after finishing a few chapters.
>>223228008I read all the time. Just finished A Flag for Sunrise by Robert Stone.>>223228092The War of the End of the World is probably my favorite LatAm novel. >>223228092Gabriel Garcia Marquez? I remember they were long books, be warned. Also I heard hurricane season (fyc) is great, never read it though
>>223228338I dont read self help but thank you. I'm just picky and dont meet a lot of people. I will never use dating apps, and I can assure you I'm very strong headed Maybe if you read a lot of these, try to read happycracy by eva illouz or byung chul han. It's ok to not perform all the time
I read books all the timeRight now I'm reading Jean de Florette and Tintin au congo
>>223228543Read the sequel too
I do read & while reading does make one more worldly & knowledgeable. If they are reading slop (e.g. those shitty military "experience" books for dudes or romance/cheap thriller for women) it's practically a waste of time.

>>223228008I watch slop video essays on YouTube, that's basically the same
>>223228888Theres only 1 book on Nazi Germany tho
Used to read a lot. Now reading makes me dumber. There's too much of nonsense and propaganda in books on topics I'm interested in. Too many trash books. It's hard to filter it and maintain reading hygiene. The internet is the same, but with funny cats. The ancients did not read or read little (because there were fewer pieces) and invented the whole world anyways>>223228124But he was talking about people who read
>>223229182You're ignoring all the books about heckin Imperial BritainHow recessed is your chin
Reading is an outdated form of information transference. Peer to peer mentorship has always been the way to gain true knowledge.
>>223229182>>223229282How can you be a NAZI, you asshole! MY BODY MY CHOICE!!!
>>223229282The only books there that could be construed as that is Yesterday's Britain (Which is focused on the daily lives of the ordinary British person during the early - mid 20th century) & British Military Operation 1945 - 1984.I believe you are making a joke in good faith, so I will assume that as the course of action.
Going to listen to Blindsight audiobook.I can't into fictional story reading, has to be non-fiction. Also why does it feel like there is a massive lacking in sci-fi horror audiobooks.
I’m reading Harry Turtledove books again
>>223229395>non-fiction audioCheck out Dan Carlin. Supernova in the east is a treat.
I chew through programming and engineering books just to keep pace with all the new tech that's coming out. AI, battery technology, digital networks and other technologies are racing ahead and I have to spend an hour or two a day reading just to keep relevant and employable. As for fiction I read the Shadow pulps. They are mental popcorn, just mindless entertainment.
I only read non-fiction and even then I feel like a lot of them are wildly overlong.I particularly think of the famous Truman biography that includes a very large chapter that recounts the geological history of the area he grew up going back to Pangea.
>>223229477>geological data going back to pangeaKek, does it really tell you that?
>>223229516Yes, Truman was from a farming family so the author decided to include a doctoral dissertation on agriculture in Missouri, including the soil types, how those soil types came to be there through the movement of the crust and the retreat of the glaciers and shit, and what crops were best to grow in it
>>223229674Actual autist, the author.
>>223228008Just read the translated Illiad
>>223229674This is literally essential to understanding Truman's upbringing retard. Let me guess, you think Joyce and Tolstoy are long-winded tooChimps at their keyboards, I swear
