Why do I keep seeing Europeans referring to their husband/wife as their "partner"?
>>
Why do I keep seeing amerilards referring to their husband/wife as their "partner"?
>>
Sorry that's too progressive for your backwards American mentality.
Maybe you'll get there in a century!
>>
you are spending time around our libtards
>>
I always ask if they're gay if they say this
>>
pretty sure the only people who do that don't have a husband/wife
>>
It's to signal marriage has been reduced purely to a financial entanglement in the Godless Eurozone
>>
>>223276660
You don't.

In America, referring to your significant other as your "partner" was a gay thing, and even the gays dropped it for husband/wife after gay marriage was legalized.
>>
>>223276493
we're all big John Wayne fans. We call our kids 'pilgrum', too
>>
>>223276850
Americans use the term "SO" which is even gayer
>>
>>223276679
You take pride in being "progressive"?
>>
>>223276493
Religion of liberalism tells them to. Got to be inclusive for the LBGTZXY@+ community
>>
>Why do I keep seeing Europeans referring to their husband/wife as their "partner"?
how many Europeans you talk in their native languages or whats your point?

are you one of the people who complain about ESLs cursing too much as well? Not realizing that ESLs do not "hear" words and things the same way you do in a language they arent native in
>>
>>223279699
Okay then, who is telling you to refer to your husbands/wives as "partners?"
>>
>>223280218
source on finns, swedes, danes, germans, poles, the french, brits, the dutch, belgians, italians, spaniards, portuguese, maltans, hungarians, estonians, lithuanians, latvians, albanians, serbians, croatians, romanians, bulgarians, slovakians, the czech, belarusians, russians, ukrainians, moldovans, the greek, macedonians, bosniaks, the swiss, austrians, the icelandic people, the faroese, scots, the irish, sami etc. all using the word "partner" for their husband / wifes in their native language?

you must really speak a lot of languages to know all of this and have talked to many different nations..thats more than many people in Europe can manage...
>>
>>223280453
Okay, so first you admit that you do this and claim that its because English is your second language, and now you deny that you do this. Which one is it?
>>
>>223280682
SO/partner is a liberal and gay American thing. Every European language I can think of has a word for husband or wife or at least the possessive of "my man" or "my woman" and it's used. Nobody uses their equivalent of "partner" because it would translate like some business interaction
>>
>>223280719
I just say “my whore wife”
>>
>>223280739
You'd fit right in in the Balkans
>>
I did this prior to marriage. It is because girlfriend/boyfriend sounds too informal past your early 20s. Girlfriend/boyfriend sounds like 2 friends who have sex. Partner is more formal but orior to marriage.
>>
>>223276493
Because your language is dumb and lmited. The meaning you give in english for "partner" we call it "sócio". As in, a business partner.
While the best acurate word for partner is parceiro.
>>
>>223280788
Partner sounds like you guys are on a ski team together
>>
>>223280802
American are children. 40 year olds refering to their partner as my "girlfriend" is weird and cringe. It is even morr weird if a 40 year old woman says "my boyfriend".

Odd peter pan culture. 40 year old woman drink stanleys and listen to taylor swift.
>>
>>223280852
What’s actually weird and cringe is to be that age and not married yet
>>
>>223280852
"Partner" sounds line you're embarrassed to mention the sex of your loved one and to even clarify the seriousness of the relationship.
If you wanna marry the bitch propose and call her your fiance. Otherwise she's just your girlfriend. It sounds childish because if you're 40 and only have a "girlfriend" because it is
>>
>>223276493
how do you call someone you've been living with for 20 years but aren't married to? because this is very common here. doesn't quite feel right to call then gf/bf. also the word for gf and wife in bulgarian is the same
>>
>>223281081
In English usually people just refer to them as their wives/husbands at that point whether they are legally married or not. What do they say in Bulgaria?
>>

the answer in either case is because they are not married but view themselves as having a stronger bond than just bf/gf

why does it bother you so much
>>
>>223280682
no. I never admitted that people say that. I just took your claim at face value and said that it has no argumental value anyway since people dont speak English as their native language and you cannot claim such thing
>>
>>223276493
You make this thread every day and the only people i've ever heard referring to their significant other as "partner" are all americans. We don't even have a similar word for that in our language.
>>
>>223281121
>people dont get married anymore and just live together with no strings attached
now thats an actual problem
>>
>>223280852
Why do you, as a 40-year-old, have a boyfriend/girlfriend instead of a husband/wife? What are you scared of? Commitment? You're half-way to the grave already.
>>
>>223281108
depends which english
in Australia it only means romantic relationship so if a foreign calls their business partner partner, they get confused
>>
>>223281081
>how do you call someone you've been living with for 20 years but aren't married to?
"My fellow retard."
>>
>>223281155
How is it a problem? Instead of wastng 20k€ on a wedding, and investment with barely any return, you can just use that to buy a car, or a house downpayment.
>>
>>223281108
for long term relationships it's 'жeнa' whether you're married or not
>>
>>223281211
>20k€
In America, a marriage license costs $60.
>>
>>223281211
the problem is when the marriage and basically having a family only means that and nothing else so you end up not doing it
its insane how much people break up and how many children miss nuclear families nowadays. I got a culture shock in my own country once I really found out about it
>>
>>223281301
>>223281211
also there is no need to have a wedding that costly
>>
>>223281259
good luck finding any woman who doesn't expect a massive expensive ceremony
>>
>>223281363
A wedding service at most churches only costs a few hundred dollars, and they'll often wave the fee if you're a tithing member. Of course, you could have an absolutely massive, blowout wedding, but if the expense of such a thing is what is holding you back, why not go for something cheaper?
>>
>>223281403
I don't want any ceremony at all. My gf's mom even told her that she regretted spending money on a wedding ceremony and wished she had just spent the money on enjoying herself. That was originally our plan but now she's done some kind of mental gymnastics back to needing a ceremony at the town square and invitations and all of that regular stuff because when it comes down to it all women really live for is being seen.

partner means you're a faggot having gay sex here
unless you're a cowboy calling someone pardner
>>

not if she's just getting it on the side

Think about why that is...
