According to the United States government Brazilians are not Latinx
>>
>>223349214
Turkey deserve to be European more than Balkaners
>>
>>223349214
Correct, and that makes speecs seethe and shit their pants

Brazilians like overstating their regional importance even though we're more culturally relevant in their neighboring countries than they are.
>>
>>223349703
No. We don't want absolutely nothing to do with you.
>>
>>223349756
And everyone's ambivalent with Brazil for the most part. This supposed seethe and hostility is imagined by your right wingers.
>>
>jeets and pakijeets are asian
lol
>>
>>223349703
they are undeniably important geopolitically, but I don't think anyone claims they are important to their neighborhood culturally
brazilians live in their own cultural bubble from the rest of latin america due to language differences

It's not about left or right wing. I just dont want my culture turned into a mish mashed slop for low IQ americans.
>>
>>223349239
You might actually have a point there.
>>
>>223349214
Poor spain
>>
>>223349214
We’re forced to identify as “American” on the U.S. census; if we identify as “Latino,” they reclassify us as “White American.” So we end up identifying as “American” and facing colorism. They should add a “Brazilian” category.

>>223349854
this
>>
>Spaniards are latinxs.
>>
>>223350549
It's kinda ironic that Portugal isn't considered Hispanic, even though it's literally on the Hispania peninsula.
Their fault for stubbornly maintaining their independence.
>>
>>223352556
That happened because the Americans used the English Commonwealth as a model.
>>
>>223350386
You mainly face that problem with Americans and other nationalities, not us. Even when you're acknowledged as fellow Latin Americans, it's always with a certain linguistic distinction recognizing that you guys are practically your own thing. If anything, I think it's mainly some of your left wingers who have attempted at greater geopolitical integration (mainly with the rest of South America) with the region an attempt to assert/expand Brazilian soft power (and/or because they identify as latinos, since some of you seem split on the topic)
>>
>>223353232
only 4% of brazilians identify as latino
>>
>>223353232
Yes, but by pandering to the idiotc idea that there's somehow a "shared idea" we'd only be reinforcing that image around the world. It'd be counterproductive. It's not about political or economic cooperation, I'm talking strictly about culture.

Left wingers are naive and believe there is some sort of "pan latinx" or whatever the arepa is cooked and they push this idea to its extremes in bizarre ways.

As you said yourself, this is not true, and the surrounding countries are suspicious of Brazil's intentions and most would rather be American vassals.
>>
>>223352380
they're not latinx. they are the original Hispanics.

is this true? I thought they were latinxos. Oh and also I thought these were just categories for self-classificaiton, there's nothing saying Turks should put themselves down as White or Kazakhs as Asian o algo asi

>>
>>223349703
There isn't a lot of cultural exchange between Hispanic and Brazilian culture but I don't think an American island is more regionally important for being culturally important to them. We still have the larger economy, diplomatic weight, military, population, scientific production, resources, territory etc
>>
>>223349854
Very accurate
>>
>>223356700
>Also, Galicia belongs to us
Galicians themselves say otherwise
>>
>>223349214
This is because the United States considers Brazil a multirracial society like them, so they count Brazilians different depending if they are white, brown, black, asian or whatever. The US census doesn't put an asterisk on white Brazilians like they do with white (Hispanic)

Assuming that's true, it would be because you're culturally closer to them than we are. It isn't that much of a big deal.

That's because we don't speak Spanish. I'm not sure if they do it because Portuguese sounds too different from Spanish to them, or because they don't even know there are Portuguese speaking countries in the Americas. Either way, it's funny
