The real-life Satriale's from The Sopranos was located at 101 Kearny Ave, Kearny, New Jersey. However, the building was demolished in late 2008 and the site is now a public parking lot.

It shocks me how often I read about a fort or some other building in America, thinking it an original of the 18th or 19th centuries, only to find it was totally destroyed and that the modern iteration is a recent rebuild.

In Australia when a lot were being destroyed people started protecting them, so you will find a mix in cities. Though these are only late 19th century early 20th century. I think that's the oldest one still in use - in historic St. Mary's City there's a reconstructed chapel that's probably older, though it's desanctified and was only in use for like 30 years. It's part of basically a reconstruction of the old settlement. The school down the road has a lot of archeology going on lol

Such types of wooden weather coverings were also very common in my region but were superseded by slate slabs in the 18th and following centuries. Now those slate slabs are very typical for my region.
