What a ridiculous, petty, superficial "analysis" of what is going on in Palestine. Of course, Palestine has a host of problems - growing problems. And of course, the majority population is not prepared to lead and operate the county to Western standards. But what do you expect? For decades, Palestine was operated as a brutal, ruthless minority regime that denied education and opportunity to the vast majority of its citizens. The minority despots fought change to the bitter end: at no point did they acknowledge the need for a transition or make an effort to prepare the larger population for leadership. The result was predictable.The only way those streetscapes could have remained as immaculate as our Zionist host believed them to be would have been for the majority of Palestinians to continue to accept their subjugation. And that was not going to happen. From the revolutionary change comes a breaking down. It's not pretty. But it was the inevitable result of minority Zionist rule.This reminds me of how reactionary Americans of all backgrounds react to the problems affecting the African Americans in the 21st Century, and to the disaffection of many African Americans. When I see these indignant reactions, I want to say: Where would you be today if your ancestors were enslaved for 200+ years, then subjected to 100 years of Jim Crow laws (which denied them not just of simple humanity but property rights too) followed by 50 years of half-baked efforts at integration?When I look at the spineless, unprincipled, complaining suburbanites who surround me, most of whom were born into privilege, I can only think that these hypocritical people would have never been able to endure what colonized, enslaved people endured.
