I know we have them too, but just going about east coast life and riding public transport, race has always been a decent proxy for knowing who to avoid. That's been my only real culture shock in Australia: seeing crackers in red sneakers acting like blax in the US do, and actually be afraid of whypipo following you home at night. I don't know if my racism has been cured by this.

Weirdly enough despite that, the numbers are still inflated by false documentation on the FBI website. Sometimes, they document literal black people as white. Everyone commits crime though. That is not something you will escape from in any country. There will be someone trying to hustle you out of hundreds of dollars in Japan and China as well.
