Is society actually collapsing in most of the globe? I get this feeling often, it seems our economic model has reached its limits, no more productivity growth, no more births, no more creativity, just general enshitification everywhereBut what has caused it? The rise of China? Capitalism is a zero sum game given our current order, so much of the generalized misery could be attributed to the rise of China in a way and as time goes by people become desensitized and you start to see ever the unthinkables happening ever more often

We're going through a readjustment. The worshiping of birth rates is strange, really. All countries with high birth rates are shitholes. Countries won't disappear, they'll just get smaller because the economy doesn't need that many workers anymore. I agree about one thing - nothing has replaced religion and ideology. There isn't a unifying driving force anymore. Societies are incredibly fractured and everyone is out for themselves.

>>223416201wrong.. it's identity politics that replaced religion
>>223415984I wouldn't say its a collapse but a slowly rotting stagnation. And the lack of quality is just down to cost-cutting measures. The quality products that do remain cost much more to resist the market pressure from the mediocre or bad products (product also meaning cultural outputs not just consumer goods). >>223418542Probably this. I'm actually quite envious of those people who have a drive and passion (be that left or right politic or whatever). I on the other hand am just a phlegmatic arse who is relatively content with my personal stagnation.
>>223415984Mainly retarded ideology. The decay it has wrought. But in the context of the 20th to 21st century it's also wealth going back to its normal structure: the masses having nothing. As it stands many consumer goods are cheap imitations of cheap imitations of cheap imitations of cheap imitations, which deludes us into thinking there is abundance for all.
>>223415984hot take in here but we definitely fucked the climate up big time, it won’t get better.
