Why do East Asians always cry about racism when it comes to Ivy League schools?

Sorry Chang, but turning the entire class selection process into a series of test scores does not get you top class universities. Harvard and Yale would just be another irrelevant Asian university in that case.

Furthermore, let's not kid ourselves. Chang isn't flying to Harvard because he feels like Harvard is the best place to learn about medicine. He's going to harbor because he wants to climb the social ladder and join the elite. You can get the same top tier education at dozens of alternative schools, but they always look at Ivy League because they're totem climbers.

Nobody, but Asians and Asian-Americans regard the ethnic quotas of US private universities as discriminatory.
>>
>>223428741
they are right
>>
>>223428759
>It's discrimination
But that's the point. To discriminate and reduce the candidate pool to a smaller number.

If you already have 100 Changs with carbon copy applications, you only need like 10 max.

Jeets are so trash at subtlety. You were obviously fishing for someone to say the world hates China now and loves Indians even though the OP said "East Asians" and didn't mention China once. This is why your people constantly get dunkedd on, you're scummy and opportunistic like jews but without the intellect and with zero self-awareness.

You're university admission process is really fucking weird. In normal countries you don't have to volunteer at the tard center or be a black lesbian transexual carpenter to have a chance to attend the top unis. In normal countries it's grades or an equivalent of the SAT:s.

East Asians shouldn’t be allowed until their countries allow immigrants/foreigners in the same proportion as we do. But we all know how asians and asian americans like to hide their racism away until their hand is forced. Can’t wait for the white demographics to keep going down, then they won’t have their yellow fevercels to hide behind when the politics really gets amped up

If your top universities aren't selecting people based on their intelligence and competence, then what is really happening there? Are they daycare for nepobabies while some few smart people are carry all scientific production on their backs? Do you think this is a good model for your society?
>>
>>223429917
I would be against "meritocracy" too if I were white American. It just means competing with the whole world.
>>
>>223429948
then up your game, it's the master race whose competing, right?
>>
>>223430061
No. It's theirs by birthright. Fuck "competense" and deserving anything.
>>
>>223429948
I think it's fair to restrict meritocracy to citizens, since universities are meant to serve their country and form professionals and scientists for their country, but they won't do that because american colleges are a business and foreign students are their cashcow

meritocracy is out the window
>>
>>223430088
Kind of yes, but the name being a big draw also applies to employers. So in terms of actual end results, a Harvard degree will make it easier to find a good job even if the quality of education isn't exactly much better, simply due to the connections, connotations, and prestige associated with Ivies.
>>
If you want to weed out Asians, you might as well add the number of people they've dated to the university admissions criteria.
>>
>>223428700
>>223428733
Asians get the highest grades and test scores because their parents force them to study 20 hours a day, and Ivy schools don't want to be 80% asian kids so they purposely don't accept a lot of them even if they are the most qualified.
>>
>>223430171
Damn, what a shame. Its all fucking money and shit though, why are they like this?
Can’t you argue that higher education now is even more shit due to everybody just being more overall lazy?
>>
>>223430235
the idea is that if you got into Harvard, then you are already in the .01% of intelligence already. So they did all the work in admissions and gave this person the stamp of approval that they are intelligent. It doesn't really matter much what they did during their colllege years as long as they didn't flunk out or did too poorly.
>>
>>223430088
Yes. It's mainly there for networking. It's still a massive flex to have in your portfolio as a average citizen, but only the elite students with deep networking will make maximum use out of it (and the rare exceptional geniuses, but even some of them would likely fail to take advantage of it without sufficient social skills).
>>
>>223430202
I looked into some American tests like SAT and their model is so outdated. They are all based on memorization, so they reward people who spend more time memorizing information. They should reward interdisciplinary thinking and contextualized problem solving, like Brazil's Enem. You don't get good at that spending 20h stuffing information in your brain.

If even then Asians are still better then other Americans should just git good
>>
>>223430364
>They are all based on memorization,
not really. The tests are random and different. They test what you learned in school and most of it is just memorization anyway except for math, which is a big section of the test.

You have to remember that every high school kid takes these tests, so tens of millions per year, so you need to have a fast way to grade them. So it needs to be multiple choice where you just throw it into a computer to grade for you quickly. You can't have complex puzzles that require writing or whatever. It would take too long for a human to go through and read them.
>>
The idea that you can teach general "problem solving" skills is a myth. All the research in education psychology shows that learning happens through practice and repetition
>>
>>223430543
Enem is a multiple choice test too but usually every question has a huge walltext and the exam takes two whole afternoons to solve. All high school kids have to do it but most of them don't really try to solve the whole thing and leave early, they won't really compete for entrance in universities and are just there to get the high school certification. This is the best selective process that I am aware of but unfortunately its meritocracy has been compromised with some quotas, but most people on quotas have to be abnormaly competent compared to the general population to be approved anyway so it's not that bad
>>
>>223430646
Just like with athletes, you need talent and you need to work on your talent. If one of those factors are disregarded the results will be suboptimal
>>
I don't think Asians care that much about Ivy League. I was in a high achieving East Asian friend group and while we did try to get Ivy League, most of us were happy enough to get into UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC Irvine, etc. The people freaking out about Ivy League affirmative action are a vocal minority propped up by whites who have a vendetta against affirmative action.
>>
>>223430699
It is literally the same as SATs except longer questions according to you. That doesn't really help with the fact that it's memorization which you say is the problem.
>>
>>223430817
they obviously care. They probably already knew beforehand that it was rigged against them so they knew they wouldn't get in.
>>
>>223430817
>propped up by whites
>vendetta against affirmative action
Oh no. You're retarded. No wonder you didn't make the league.
>>
>>223430873
I didn't want to explain in depth but the questions aren't just long, most of them are very dependant on creative thinking and figuring out stuff that you wouldn't learn in a classroom or book. Of course, it's harder to do that approach with mathematics and natural sciencies, so these subjects are a bit more memorization heavy but they are still based on skills that you can't memorize
>>
>>223431043
>most of them are very dependant on creative thinking and figuring out stuff that you wouldn't learn in a classroom or book
the problem with that is rich kids will have better resources to do well in tests like that when they can hire tutors and private classes on solving those. Poor kids won't be able to and will do worse. SATs make it more even for everyone, although rich kids still do pay for tutoring to do better.
>>
>>223431169
This is the same argument leftists have used to introduce quotas. Look, not everybody is going to become a teacher, engineer, doctor, lawyer, scientist. So first thing we should stop thinking that everyone needs a college diploma to become an office wagie. Now, understanding this, naturally most poor people won't ever become specialized professionals anyway. So you are not really doing much if you are taking some few 1% of the poor and turning them into highly educated individuals. This is just populism for the sake of appearances. Who do you want to educate your kid as a teacher? Defend you as a lawyer? Treat you as a doctor? Obviously the most competent people, right? So who cares if most of them were born rich? Also, it's not just rich people who get good education. I myself was born in a lower middle class family and studied in the best schools with scholarship
>>
>>223431392
Leftists think that anybody can do any job as long as they are trained well enough and that IQ doesn't matter. So you can take some 80 Iq kid, put him through medical school, train him, and he'll become a competent doctor who won't make mistakes.

So rich people who have their kids get these good jobs are just taking away jobs from regular people who want to move up the social ladder and that's why they hate these tests and admission requirements.
