One thing I noticed from watching American TV is how often characters have to vacuum and clean their carpets in every single show. It's kind of absurd when you start to pay attention to it.But I guess that's what happens when you drag dirt and pee and poop into your home on a daily basis. In practical terms, as examples, if you allow tradesmen working in your house to keep shoes on, or if you walk through a section of your house with shoes on before exiting or taking them off (out of convenience, like if you forgot something or need to go in and out several times). I think it would depend a lot on contexts such as where you have been walking outside and the design of your house. If you live in an apartment, you don't have a backyard for example.
