Actually they should speak the exact language and dialect as the characters would presumably be speaking given the location, period, and their individual backgrounds or else I refuse to watch, simple as.

What's funny about this, is that the posh-ish British accent commonly seen in movies as a standard for fantasy and historical didn't really emerge until the 19th century and is newer than the basic American accent
