Many of my ancestors from here, but I have never seen anyone who identifies as Komi-Perm irl. However I've seen some Tatars, Bashkirs or mixed with them.
And honestly I don't like Tatars or mixed with Tatars. Just a sense.

i recently found out about this place called bolghar
it was the capital of volga bulgaria and it's right on the banks of the volga however the buildings in the pics were built during the golden horde after it converted to islam.
they're probably the northernmost example of persianate islamic architecture before the modern era.
it's pretty crazy desu. i honestly thought it was one of those dilapidated mughal tombs at first.

there's not much information on it but it seems at some point after the conquest of the khazar khanate by russia they built a church there and repurposed the minarets as church towers although in the latest pictures i've seen from the place the minarets again have islamic finials so maybe they've been given back or something

this minarets looks extremely central asian besides the roof

the interior of the mausoleum is very well conserved which surprised me. it even has molded muqarnas, hexagrams and persian arches.
perhaps a hundred or two years earlier one might even have been able to see mural fragments on the wall which would've been interesting.
