The state of American higher education is a disgrace. How do we fix our colonies?
I feel like I was on the last chopper out of saigon finishing my doctorate in 2021 right as LLMs were taking off. I know I would have been a lazy fuck and abused them and learned nothing. My cousin is a highschool teacher in a relatively well off area and the things she tells me are unbelievably bleak.

The actual content of whats taught in a semester could just be an email you read once in two minutes and still come out with a better lifelong understanding of the subject than whatever they're trying to do, making you go to class to sit through a powerpoint for two hours that you can read in two minutes and then send you out with assignments to do on your own time outside of class. You're wasting your time if use AI, you waste even more time if you don't. Just read some books and practice on your own if you actually want to learn something. People going to post secondary to learn are already cooked. I don't even use AI for my schoolwork but I would never fault anyone who does:

>>223453562The solution is very simple: stop making students write assignments. They already have to study a lot to take tests. If you as a teacher really need to waste time of your underlings then make them do class presentations.
