The significant minority Chinese and Indian races however are free to practice any faith, but cannot convert out of Islam should they ever adopt the faith, just like the Malays. Usually people who have been practicing a different faith before for most of their lives have a slim chance of leaving Islam (i.e. a non-Malay), otherwise the court would not let people change their religion as they please.
