So do you just reach a stage where you basically stop learning new words and your progress reduces to a snailspace? I've learned all the most common words now, I'm practicing INPOOT and really pretty good now, but I'm stuck at maybe 50-70% comprehension and don't really no what to do now.Has anyone who uses this general actually managed to become conversational in a language by proactively trying to learn it? In fact, they also were sea related>écume>sillageto this day I remember because they were at the start of the book, and my ego was bruised over having to do that many lookups on some basic 19th littldr: knowing vocab is the same in a TL than in NL. I think my active vocab (I can remember in conversation) is bigger in english. But passive vocab may be bigger, like checking the translation of a rare english word and recognizing the french word but I may not have seen it in use in over a decade

reading translations of Caesar into my TL is very helpful since I've very thoroughly studied chapters 1-20 of De Bello Gallico. Feels like cheating since I can gloss nearly every unfamiliar term for at least the first 10-odd chapters from my memory of the latin text.

To me it's a very rigid and structured languages which has the pros of being very easy for someone to understand conversations in purely by knowing a couple key words and how conjugation works. Cards that were just one day late were 25-30% more likely to fail. Cards that were 3 days late or more were nearly twice as likely to fail.
