You know how some animals have a second eyelid? I need something like that but tinted. So I can go out to the sun, close them and be like “My vision is augmented.” Until them sunglasses it is. I have this eye shape. In bright light the skin folds provide more protection than the eyelid alone can. But when it's dark they retract and expose my highly-sensitive eyes. Good for variable lighting conditions like you'll find in wooded areas.
