I don't get the hate for these buildings it's better than the crack head motel/ abandoned warehouse/ empty parking lot that was there before it
>>
>>223944207
Crack head motels had sovls and inspired generations of American culture
>>
some architects deserve to be beaten honestly

I mean he is the only Swiss architect I know so I guess anon meant him
Switzerland actually has quite a few brutalist buildings but they are well renovated so they dont have that nuclear winter zone feel so you dont even notice they are ugly
>>
>>223944162
Irkutsk is the ugliest city in the world
>>

There's quiet a few notable swiss firms after him. like Herzog and de Meuron,

The kind of housing project our government comes up with. No ammenities, no comercial districts, far from everything. Completly unwalkable.

For a government ruled by cold war fossils that abomine the dictatorship, they sure like to copy the same mistakes

We don't have enough BRVTAL buildings in this country. A lot of designs that would have been trvly BRVTAL were compromised by the neo-indigenous slop that keeps coming up, or came too late and were compromised by modern glass slop.

Pic related is a great example of a fantastic BRVTAL design almost immediately compromised by both neo-indigenous slop and glass-slop, losing its purity.

I envy how Europeans got to experience truly BRVTAL constructions unaffected by normgroid sentimentality and squeamishness.

i really like the way they added different layers and colors to this building. it almost makes it look like there's multiple buildings there. it really adds to the urban texture, almost indistinguishable from historic city blocks. god i love architects

Cities need more plants. New builds always have these shitty little trees that are 1. too far apart and 2. can't grow properly along with pollinator plants. Now it's hot as balls

this is what exiled chinese real estate money does to a fkin country

How recent is this neo-indigenous wave? It would have been great during grand brutalist projects but nowadays everything is built to please investors and no one else
