I fucking hate Kpop as a Korean who grew up here and never been other foreign countries
>30 year old men/women acting like babies
>>223948482You should stab the idols.
kpop as a genre mogs american pop and rap plus the girls are cute
>>223948506it really does look like Teletubbies for "adults"
>>223948482Do you like Best Korean pop music?
>>223948875No>>223948760Thats not exactly the core problem >>223948567American pop mogs it>>223948506Its not the core problem
>>223948482>>>/mu/
>>223948482>>223948875I was about to ask this. North K-pop is dumb propaganda but the musicianship is out of this world.South K-pop is very toxic. I wish Koreans would embrace Euro scenes like metal and punk and techno and so forth. It's a shame I can name like 10 incredible famous or underground Japanese metal bands, but not a single Korean one.In my mind, Korea is a beacon of progress and democracy in Asia, even when Japan was still a cruel expansionist empire. It's a shame the country still has this aftertaste of hypercapitalism.
>>223949402have you ever been to a kpop concert vs a japanese metal concert?it's quite literally sovlless vs sovlkpop concerts everybody is on their phone recording because the point of going to the concert is to show off on social media that you were therejrock concerts nobody is on their phone because the point of going to the concert is to enjoy the music
>>223949429kek @ that body guard in the back
>>223949429I've never been for a few reasons:- K-pop groups don't often visit us ;- I don't enjoy K-pop that much ;- K-pop concert tickets cost an arm and your first-born's soul ;- I'm too poor and busy to visit Asia. The Japanese absorbed Western culture like a risotto absorbs the broth, it looks and probably is delicious. Korea went through decades of cruel dictatorship before becoming civilised, I don't think they can compare with other capitalist countries even Japan apart from their soft power.>kpop concerts everybody is on their phone recording because the point of going to the concert is to show offAnd yeah I got that from a documentary about fashion in North Korea. Apparently, it's a huge aspect of Korean culture to focus on looks and social standing, North or South. What I find intriguing is Korea got rid of its capitalist dictatorship in the 90s, became liberal, but didn't introduce the liberal arts. K-pop is not directly state-sponsored but it's a purely capitalist endeavor, compared to J-pop that has legit artists (even "idols") who built their career from the ground up.
