Been giving it serious thought lately, seems like an easy gig and I always liked the idea of being out on the open seas.

You're not "out on the open seas" as much as confined to a small space with zero privacy around the clock months on end.

Extended for me is anything lasting more than a 1-2 days. Standard RTN rotations are anywhere from a week to a month.
