Nothing really hunts people so either they self-regulate or multiply incessantly until all resources are stripped. Even people who do haploautism begrudingly admit that Y-DNA and mtDNA have nothing to do with your physical appearance and it does nothing but trace ancient ancestry. In the silver fox experiment it only took 3 generations to convert wild foxes into domestic ones with significant genetic differences. Physical adaptations happen more quickly than people realize, just look at how wildly dog breeds vary.
