I understand they've been under Spanish and American rule before. This probably left strong cultural impressions that them more compatible with people from this side of the world. Other asians like indians, chinese, korean and japanese only know how to bow down to authority and work like ants. Thinking of foreign philosophies as alien and thus meeting them with hostility.
