Sometimes I read something and I don't understand it, and I think it's just because my Japanese level simply isn't good enough yet to understand it, I then try reading it in a language I do know, and I still don't understand it, which is when I realize it's not that my Japanese isn't good enough, but rather that I'm too stupid to understand it at all in the first place, regardless of the language used.Or maybe I don't really know any languages, which could also be true.

What are genuine appropriate contexts to use the honorific 様? I know you would say it to royalty or a court judge. Would you say it to a mayor or a local politician in office? You wouldn't say it to a boss, right?
