I've never really noticed how different our language used to sound. Recordings from a century ago had trilled R, clearer vowels, slower speech, different L, sounds, with less of the sh sound overall. I always thought it was just some silly accent people put on for radio and public speeches, but apparently it was actually the high status accent. It was so ugly

I've never noticed how little colour is needed just to make those black and white recordings look so lively. They really just coloured their faces and the flowers
